It's a double blessing any time we get to help another, a blessing both ways, for the one helped and the helper. This is a lesson which I shared in learning with Fletcher in one instance, and with BooDawg in another. At Facelift 2012.
This demonstrates that phenomenon.

I was able to thank nita and Karen the flyy girl for their assistance with the rocketry and stovery involved in making Mousie's morning ritual. I wish to call to everyone's attention their willingness to share. Thanks again.
I think back to the day and here's Mathis arising, or attempting to do so, and I'm up and at the stove, boiling coffee. We had this ritualistic thing we went through every morning we made coffee. I guess it was a ritual, no, more of a silly routine. The tag line involved was:
"Mousie, I want some caw-fee. I shore would like some caw-fee, Mousie. Mousie? Make me some caw-fee, OK?"
I've mentioned before that Mort hempel, leaving the Valley to seek other things, gifted the Reverend Mathis with a Chemex caw-fee maker, the next thing to sliced bread, IMO, but by then my life had led to Berkeley, home of wondrous coffee offerings.

My coffee hang-out of choice is the Coffee Bandits, located on Main in the Merced Theater arcades, next to the yoghurt shop. They have a beautiful establishment and it's a homey place, with a piano, a guitar, bookage, gameage, and an outdoor seating area, because you can't drink coffee without smoking a cigaret. I've tried. It sucks.
Bandits is no less expensive than Starbuck's a block further up Main, but it has soul.

oh man, but the combo smoke and coffee is one of the best things ever!

Funny you should mention that, Locker.
My favorite bean is the Sumatran Mandehling, "...a strong distinctive flavor. Rich and bold, a sure workout for the senses, thi one will leave you very satisfied."
I remember when I first found this variety of bean that I described it to her in these terms, "It remkinds me of what the forest floor might taste like if you strained it, boiled that. It's good, though."
I was blessed to instruct her in the ways of making good French Roast, Sumatran, and to experiment with blending. And to enjoy it without sweeteners. She reciprocated in delightful ways (I can't go there). The net effect, cribbage and coffee and cigarets. Then she quit smoking. The games continued. I kicked her butt because my smoking distracted her, I like to think.
I would drink many cups of joe a day at virtually all the jobs I had where it was practical. And the coffee break is an established ritual in our culture.

It's like walking into church, for a lady who just got a new dress, and seeing her friend wearing it! Sorry, lad. But is it grounds?
"A twelve ounce regular coffee with an added shot of espresso." That would be the notorious "Depth Charge." When adding the second shot, call it a "Red Eye." If a third is added, it's called "I need a larger cup, please." Add shot #4 and it's a "Jose Cuervo," because he always brings along several of his little friends. If you get bold, add number five, call and ambulance! Number six and it's a "Firing Squad." And

I think there is plenty room for 2 coffee threads.
I'll bet a large percentage of routes were put up fueled with strong coffee, that or weed.

wherever its fresh ground. i gotta say though, i been drinking my coffee without smoking cigarettes for years, and it works for me.
just went into surgery this morning and the hardest part of no eating/drinking after 10 the night before was not being able to drink my coffee in the morning.

I LOVE coffee!I have a motto: No Coffee, no workee.
I thinks we should all post our faves here:
Mine is Tanzanian Peaberry, which is awfully hard to find these days. I, first place by my taste buds is Arabian Mocha, but I haven't seen any for 4-5 years. Ethiopian Sidamo is always a contender. You may notice that these are all East Arfrican coffees. The world's best!

just entering this parlor. no one speaks in my house until I have coffee; but then again it is just me, two dogs and a snake. none the less everyone respects the house rule. It is a family tradition.

Don't you drink coffee on your approach drives?
I know I used to and spilled quite a few cups of joe on the road. there wasn't a cuholder in the van, nor the pickup.

In 1983, when I moved back to the Central Valley, there was one espresso machine that I knew of and that was in the vegetarian restaurant on Hwy 140 in the center of Mariposa. Nowadays, cosi fan tutte.
And who could forget this scorching revelation about greedy corporate giants who...Never mind. It's the coffee.
