Does anyone know if this quote is attributable to Ron Kauk or who it would be?
I recalled it when Camp 4 was under immediate threat of being turned into some Hotel/Casino/Parking Lot:
"We live in a world where some think nothing is sacred, and others believe that everything is sacred."
If it's not Kauk or if I have butchered it, please correct me.
Thanks,
DrG

"Climbing here saved my life from the confines of the materialistic illusion that we're taught as children in school. The way I see it, there are two worlds: There's the world where nothing is sacred except money, and the other world where everything is sacred."

Sounds like a worthy organization. What ever happened to that Chris Sharma run organization that brought inner city kids out to the valley and taught climbing? I forget the name....

gullich? abe lincoln said something an awful lot like that.
"any day is a good day to be born and a good day to die" has been attributed to geronimo and pope john the 23rd.
here's one you can attribute to me, if you like: "there are no heroes". stop worshipping them.

And here's one that you can pin to me (created before the obvious 'other' one):
Wherever you are, you'll be there soon.
Naw, nothing sacred about this quote...

There are most certainly heroes and even a few saints.
A wonderful experience in life is to become your own.

I've never met Ron but began admiring him after reading a few of his quotes in "Traditional Lead Climbing--Surviving the Learning Years" I had just bought the book and began climbing in jtree with my wife. We met a young 16 year old girl who climbed with us for a day (she had the most experience by far). She told us she came from a broken home and considered Ron her father.
Whether he knew that or not I dont know. I also don't know her name but the story has struck me that indeed THERE ARE HEROS!!

"Focus all your energy to a single point, clear your mind, and go for the move. That is your Power Point.
Named a climb after that quote.
Ron's a good guy, always has been, who gives all his great talent and wisdom to the young and up and coming.
