I am an alpine dumbass, what would be a comparatively difficult route with somewhat similar logistics? Something like an ascent of checkered demon stacked on east buttress of whitney with a 6k elevation gain approach?

its 11000 feet of travel/climbing with 5.7 rock, 60 degree snow/ice and tops out at 4800 meters...

stack whatever you want to get to those numbers

This past June, Jornet and Stephane Brosse attempted to cross the entire Mont Blanc Massif in two days when Brosse broke through a cornice and fell 2000 feet to his death.

To put it in perspective of how he got massively lucky.

Interesting and well written story about Kilian. He's finally starting to become known in the US.
