I wouldn't be where I am today without my gal.
Only 3 years so far, but the best years of my life. She inspires me to be a better man - together we do things and go places we only dreamed about.
Plus she climbs, hikes camps and bikes with me...and puts up with my constant gear hoarding.

say, she and her sis look soooo much alike... near like a twin...
(my son married an identicle twin gal, and had a few interesting odd times, when he first would round the corner, or walk past a door, etc, until he got used to it all)...
thank you for sharing how the two of you are so blessed!
with this appreciation for her...

too many hot chicks here hooked up to ST losers. what's going on? did you guys slip 'em mind control drugs on that first date?
it's my contention that the best pairings are based on weakness. for example, i've always had a terrible weakness for intelligent women. i'm sorta intelligent myself, but when i run across a woman smarter than me, it puts me in a tailspin. i'm helpless. on the other hand, my wife's weakness has always been for good-looking men. her first heartthrob was charlton heston. didn't seem like any of the men in japan could measure up after she saw ben hur. poor thing wound up wandering the halls at ucla, running into me and thinking, "well, not quite charlton, but i could do worse."
so i recently took her fishing for the first time ever. thanks to my alaskan brother, we took a day charter out of seward and her arms got sore wrestling with silver salmon. a native japanese who has loved sushi all her life, she got a real-life close-up look at what's involved in catching fish--the beauty, the thrill, and the sadness. it's a measure of my regard for her that these things should all have hit home.

We celebrated our 32 anniversary August 1st! I love him so much - partner, lover, best friend, rock.
He took me climbing in New Hampshire on our second date and so I have him to thank for my lifelong passion for climbing.
He doesn't climb outside much anymore, but occasionally we head out to climb together. This has been a good year for us climbing together - we had a day in Red Rocks, a day in the Valley, and a few days in the Meadows. I took the above photo last week after we finished Tenaya Peak.

My long suffering husband hates exposure and would be delighted to merely belay me on single pitch climbs. Yet I somehow got him on a five pitch route this past weekend. He always encourages me to chase after adventures, with or without him.
He will be putting some sweat equity into our future home next week.
He never expected be a daddy. but he has a wonderful relationship with his daughter.
I think I'll keep him.

It's all part of life's rich pageant.
Wouldn't do a thing different (well, maybe a few, but those are my areas for improvement!).
It's a heck a lot of work, any relationship, but you get out what you put in. Sometimes even more than the combined efforts. We have reaped the rewards here. And still working. And still reaping! :-)
In deep, deep gratitude for my dynamic, challenging, beautiful, wonderful wife!

My co-adventurer; we got to know each other on the soccer field. I remember quite fondly the goal she scored off of my assist. The conection was a lot of fun for both of us. I was cycling a lot at the time. She bought me a tandem and held on tight (probably with her eyes closed) while I tried to break 55MPH going down a hill. I didn't know at the time she was afraid of going fast. Our hike to the top of Half Dome together(her idea) was magical. We danced on the top. I was fishing a lot at the time and she became the best fishing partner anyone could ask for. Then one day instead of going out on our own we decided to go out on a party boat. The boat didn’t have much luck so we stayed out for around eight hours with Heidi sea sick for about seven of that. Last year at 55 I took up rock climbing and she didn't flinch or miss a step. She belays me all the time and has started climbing as well. At Indian Springs there is an unnamed route that was her first, she calls it Just Right. On rest day before a big hike last year she suggested that we check out an area called Twin Crags at North Shore Tahoe. Well it’s an hour through head high manzanita to get there and a half hour back. Us both in shorts with our legs shredded and bleeding I’ve never seen her smile so big. She’s not perfect if she was she never would have married me.
A truly wonderful wife that I love with all my heart and soul.
