Done... and within 10 minutes, my eyes and nose start to water uncontrollably. It's worth it for the Procession.

My camera phone sucks, so Jefe has the vids and shots of the Procession.

It seemed EVEN bigger this year, with more walkers in the Procession and more families coming out from ALL parts of town to gather and watch. The Tucson community at it's finest, not to mention a world class finale to cap the evening off.

Always special... A Tucson tradition I will always particpate in.

Jeepers! I had no idea it was that involved. Is it the biggest celebration of All Souls in the US?
Burning Man, Las Vegas, Mardi Gras, Cirque de Soleil, Mass, all rolled into one from what I could tell. Stunning ... Really captivating

Is it the biggest celebration of that in the US?

It IS indeed the biggest celebration in the US.
I have been walking in the Procession since my son was little ... 14+ years. I commented last evening that I have never experienced any negativity during this community event... it is truly a time when Tucson comes together, celebrates life, mourns those who have passed and brings all classes and ethnicities of Tucson together. It's really quite beautiful and moving.

Last night was the first time I walked without wearing a special dress from my family. Instead, I carried 3 flowers: 1 for my mother, Gloria, 1 for my young friend, Giovonni, who lost his battle to cancer when he was 5, and I carried 1 flower for my friend Kath and her father.

Special indeed.

Have fun at the Blitzfest, Leggs. The drive and papers to grade keep me eight hours north.

Hey, I'm finally watching Jane Eyre two years after release. Wow for Michael Fassbender as Rochester! Heart be still. Can't believe he's the same actor who played Sands in Hunger.

Only a few more months until Downton Abbey, Ms. Leggs.

Awwwww, Sullly ... WE need to meet and hang out, for reals.

Downtown Abby.... purrr.

Do you ever watch DCI Banks on PBS?
Minor crush on the main character... SUCH a great actor.

^^^^Looked DCI Banks up. Affirmative: he's a cutie. The series will go on my list to watch over vacation. Got hooked on PBS's DC Barnaby, watching all eleven seasons over the summer.

I now add the one on the left in line behind the one on the right for my liver spotted hand.

When I left the office late on Thursday, ready and anxious to get on the road to California, I hugged my boss, Dave, happy to hear his 46 year old son was in the recovery room and talking after undergoing triple bypass surgery. I hugged my boss ... that's not like "us", but we were all in high spirits.

I went on vacation... celebrated the Life of Blitzo, climbed, enjoyed the weather, was never sure of the date, and slept under a brilliant desert moon. I had an amazing time ...

When I went into the office on Tuesday I was immediately greeted by one of my favorite RN's, who took me by the arms, looked me in the eye and asked if I was OK? My reply was the smile on my face and in my eyes. She knew I hadn't heard the news.

Dave lost his only son on Friday, due to complications from his bypass surgery. One moment he was "fine" ... the next ... dead.

I was FLOORED. We all gathered in my office and cried... hugged and cried some more. We supported each other, held each other up, literally, and told ourselves to "be strong". The scary part was Dave was going into his own triple bypass surgery THAT DAY. The same operation that had taken the life of his young son.

Knowing I had an appt at 9am, we all gathered the strength needed to keep it together and worked, just the way the boss would want us to do.

It would be hours later when we would hear Dave had made it through his operation ... we were all on pins and needles... wondering...what would happen next?

Though I didn't cry much more at work due to endless appts and my desire to be professional, I found myself crying my ass off when alone at home... and later, when not alone. I felt so much pain for Dave inside, not sure what to do... how to help... who to care for.

Today is Dave's 67th birthday. We all rallied again today, worked our asses off and made it through the day.

We go all out for birthdays at my office... but this time, Dave was missing and the only celebration we were having was an internal one, happy to hear he was still doing well. I still felt we needed to "do" something to make sure Dave knew he was on our mind and in our hearts. Soooo, we all got together and I sent him this:

It isn't much, but I hope it puts even a tiny smile in his heart.

Life is short...
Death is certain...

Be kind... hug people with all your heart, be sincere, be thoughful and most of all, Enjoy Life.
