Women tend to not be as boisterous as boys. They do like to be part of fun climbs instead:

You probably recall the nightmare we had during our adoption of Marina....and over the course of all that, we literally took thousands of pictures of her. The one that appears below is my favorite....here's the story.

In April of 2009, we were told to come down to Quito to finalize things, and plan on 3 weeks. Leah, Micah and I flew down...and after 3 weeks, we weren't quite there yet. We extended our tickets by a week.

When that week was about up, it was clear we were in a fight/nightmare, and things weren't going to get done in time. I put Leah and Micah on the plane home, while I stayed in Quito with Marina to continue the battle. I was in country for another 3 weeks....to no avail. (We ended up not getting her home until August)

Anyway, this picture was taken by Micah at our home in Quito, after Marina and I had said our goodbyes, and Leah and Micah were getting in a cab to head to the airport. Marina and I had turned to walk back to the house, and Micah snapped the pic....tears streaming down her face.

Last year, on her 8th birthday, I blew the pic up, had it framed, and gave it to Marina as a gift for her room. It hangs over her bed. That night, when I was saying goodnight to her, she said, "I love my picture Dad...thanks for walking me home."

Dean, great picture of you, and you may be getting "mature" but you better stay on your A game, Marina is going to be STUNNING! A beautiful picture of you both!
And the big Dad and little girl, that is one that will go through generations....so evocative!

Yes Dean, I thought about that too, I just think its such a grown up word and dang, our kids grow up so fast now.
I'm so glad she is living on the Eastside. A beautiful place from which to branch out and eventually conquer the world.

Naw, just mount the pic of you and the bear just inside the doorway. That will be "'nuf said"
