Well, the Pickle is officially 21 years old today.

It is AMAZING how time flies. He flies out to Vegas with some friends and his Dad this evening at 6:00pm. (Ohhhhhh sh#t.)

I get a little teary eyed looking at photos of him when he was just a wee lad...

I am blessed.

He flies out to Vegas

I guess that's the standard "turn 21 and go to Vegas". My son must have gone to Vegas 10 times in the last 2 years as he and his friends turned 21. Drove me crazy! Turns out they could get a RT flight on Allegiant airlines out of Monterey for $60.
Crazy how time flies. But, lucky you, you'll have tons more years with your guy and eventually grand kids....I was 41 when I had my son! I hope to live long enough just to see him get married. They really teach us about life, eh?

Thanks Chaz and Burchy, I am very glad he has this opportunity....plus I get to go visit him ... And it's been a million years since I was in Europe during the winter. We're hoping to get lots of skiing in.
All's good, but his girlfriend is pissed.

What a wonderful opportunity for your son, Susan! And the visit will be all the more special. Congrats to him and his hard, good work.

I wonder if the Pickle has even GONE to sleep yet, having arrived in Vegas last night. I suspect I will not be getting "updates" and since I avoid being a helicopter mom, I shall await his return to try to pry out stories from him. (I know, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. damnit)

When big events happen, like the Pickle turning 21, I start to feel the loss of my mom just a bit more. Sooooo instead of "crying" about it last night, I turned to music, one of my passions, and updated my SoundCloud.

Ahhhh, music ... So therapeutic.

Yeah, I wanted the "stories" too. Truth be told I'm not sure he even knew what happened. He arrived home safely each time and that was all I could ask for. Eventually the whole "21" thing settled down. I was glad when the novelty wore off.

Once a Mom, always a Mom...

Yep... I suspect the same may happen.

Ahhhh, motherhood. Gotta love it.

I never did ANY of the sh#t Pickle does now when I was his age.
Why? I was busy being a mom at his age.
I'd rather he get it out of his system... and become a parent later in life. (fingers crossed!)

I hope every one of you gets a drumstick--there was none on this Free Bird--but only if ya want one.

Gobble life up while you may,

Sullly... you speak my language, young lady.
(I've been missing you. I apologize for my lack of communication... always in my heart, Sullly.)
The lineup ... Hmmmm... I suspect I will be going back home to California more this year... I would love to do this with you!? ~xx) (oh, and I WILL be thinking of you on Sunday evening. You best believe it!)

Hey leggs do you know how frickin hard it is to find a cowboy with an umbrella pic?

Hahahhahahha. Umbrella?!

You're a good friend ... and you crack me up. Thank you.

;)

*more photos of cowboys welcome*

I Googled "Cowboy with Umbrella" and THIS popped up...

Edit: Clint, a Nun and an umbrella!!
You just summed up my life!
(kidding... no need for umbrellas in Tucson)

Enjoy Life at the Movies. It's Thanksgiving.Buzz: I was disappointed with Cowboys and Aliens.
Woody: Why is that, Buzz, ol' pard? Not up to your Acadamy standards, ya ol' ring-knocker?
Buzz: Frankly, Woody, I thought it was going to be about Arizona's immigration laws.
Woody: Myself, ol' sidewinder, I kinda hoped it might could be about California farming, ol' pal. But that's the way the ticket tears, ya ol' bar-fly.
Buzz: It might have at least been about football and rock climbing, or some other manly endeavor that doesn't require firing ordnance.
Woody: One might coulda hoped that, ol' jet-jock. But you know Hollywood--it's gotta fly instead of crawl, ol' orbit-butt.
Buzz: Eastwood of Eden was much better, having the point of view of the narrator and with so few special effects, but which were generally placed to keep the viewer's attention. I still appreciate a great light show, though, and this was pretty darned good.
Woody: I am still hungry for popcorn, old sidekick. That was some in that jay you brought, ol' star-man! Bust out another, deal?
Buzz: Uh, yep!

Mouse... you should consider script writing...
And do make sure all the characters are high.

The holidays are always an interesting time of the year for me.
I am very lucky to be surrounded by some of the most thoughtful people... loyal and honest friends who have become my family.

This was an entry I made on Thanksgiving:

Every little thing about Thursday was amazing
even my little drive to Sabino Canyon.

Thank you Ali, Paul, Lynn and Jerry, Jennifer, Lopez, Alaina, Avett and Derek for sharing the love, laughs, and hugs with me. Here's to new traditions! Thank you for being my family and home away from home.

And special Thanks to my Dad, Brad, who I got to speak with EARLY in the morning. Thank you for holding my emotions with care... for your support of my decisions and for the special love and respect we share with each other. I love you, Dad.

Pickle ... I missed you yesterday, but thought of you every moment. I love you. Thank you for being YOU.

Nothing will ever replace my own family, but being in this town for the last 21 years without them has been hard. I am so grateful for my friends ... my Tucson family, year round.

I think we run in different circles. See "El Topo" for cowboys and umbrellas and a whole lot more.
