Home safe from JTree and the wonderful memorial for Blitzo.
This was one of the best trips to JTree on so many levels.
Feeling gratitude for everything in my Life, big and small.

When I left the office late on Thursday, ready and anxious to get on the road to California, I hugged my boss, Dave, happy to hear his 46 year old son was in the recovery room and talking after undergoing triple bypass surgery. I hugged my boss ... that's not like "us", but we were all in high spirits.

I went on vacation... celebrated the Life of Blitzo, climbed, enjoyed the weather, was never sure of the date, and slept under a brilliant desert moon. I had an amazing time ...

When I went into the office on Tuesday I was immediately greeted by one of my favorite RN's, who took me by the arms, looked me in the eye and asked if I was OK? My reply was the smile on my face and in my eyes. She knew I hadn't heard the news.

Dave lost his only son on Friday, due to complications from his bypass surgery. One moment he was "fine" ... the next ... dead.

I was FLOORED. We all gathered in my office and cried... hugged and cried some more. We supported each other, held each other up, literally, and told ourselves to "be strong". The scary part was Dave was going into his own triple bypass surgery THAT DAY. The same operation that had taken the life of his young son.

Knowing I had an appt at 9am, we all gathered the strength needed to keep it together and worked, just the way the boss would want us to do.

It would be hours later when we would hear Dave had made it through his operation ... we were all on pins and needles... wondering...what would happen next?

Though I didn't cry much more at work due to endless appts and my desire to be professional, I found myself crying my ass off when alone at home... and later, when not alone. I felt so much pain for Dave inside, not sure what to do... how to help... who to care for.

Today is Dave's 67th birthday. We all rallied again today, worked our asses off and made it through the day.

We go all out for birthdays at my office... but this time, Dave was missing and the only celebration we were having was an internal one, happy to hear he was still doing well. I still felt we needed to "do" something to make sure Dave knew he was on our mind and in our hearts. Soooo, we all got together and I sent him this:

It isn't much, but I hope it puts even a tiny smile in his heart.

Life is short...
Death is certain...

Be kind... hug people with all your heart, be sincere, be thoughful and most of all, Enjoy Life.

Sounds like you've got some great genes, Sullly, and hopefully all of your fingers. {smiles}

I am so sorry to hear of your godfather's heart attack and subsequent need for care, honey. Message me if you or the family need any guidence in navigating the many care options out there. It can be overwhelming at times to deal with such decisions, and it's what I do professionally.
And as always, my heart is with you. ~xx

The cycle of Life compells me to share happiness that a great old friend of mine celebrates another birthday today. He is so very kind, funny as HELL, giving, intelligent, loyal, and talented.
This photo of the birthday boy from 2008 has always cracked me up, esp because of the "outfit" he decided to wear... the entire evening.

Smile, and Enjoy Life!

Thank you eKaterinaBallerina ... This was the bad news I'd referred to in my email the other day. I had to process it a bit before "talking" about it without crying. ~xo sista love

I am loving this thread more than ever, Leggs and friends.

A village is what we seem to be becoming on Supertopo:
A global village sitting high in the hills of our imaginations.

It's a great break from it all, isn't it?

Welcome home, Leggs, and very sorry for your loss.

Welcome home, and it's touching as it can be to see you jump right on things and get back to work by offering help to a fellow-topian like this.

And good luck with your godfather's situation, Scully.

Prayers and peace.

Mouse, you big softy ... This kind of made me a little misty eyed.
Thank you for the support, always.

My friend, the birthday boy in the photo above just wrote this:
I had a dream LAST NIGHT I wore the Green Man suit, but it was had gnarly armpit, mouth, and etc. stains and was full of holes! Its final resting place that was the Budsters sh#t-show in Vegas was more than appropriate

I have awesome people in my life, fellow Taco heads included!

Not so much today....
I just found out my son who went to Germany on September 1 to return mid January is staying throughout the school year. Boo Hoo. His Euro soccer sponsors want him to stay the rest of the school year for study and playing. I'll be over there in a couple weeks to visit him, but knowing he'll be gone till summer is heartbreaking.

This is the 22 year old that is in Germany

This is who I think I put on the plane:

Missing him. A lot. Thousands of miles away instead of 100s.

Chin up there, Susan.

Your son found a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and he's wise enough to take advantage of it.
