Don't get me started on these kid-pageants and the idiotic parents. These shows run pretty much non- stop on certain channels. The fact that that many people are tuning in is an incredibly sad statement about American Society IMO.
Boo-Boo.. yeesh.. what a horrific little slug. A slug with loads of infectious personality who is being ruthlessly exploited by her family. Her parents should be lap-banded then sterilized.

I'm not sure which is worse, that this kind of trash can sustain an audience, or that it's on The LEARNING Channel. WTF? Learning what? That our country is full of psychotic obese rednecks?

Learning what? That our country is full of psychotic obese rednecks?
Yup- that pretty much sums it up in a nutshell.
95% of Cable TV = Alien hunters, bigfoot hunters, hillbilly catfish hunters, gator-hunters, housewife reality shows, guido reality shows, loudmouth obnoxious brides behaving badly shows and kid pageant/dance shows.
So cable TV basically targets : rednecks, teen-aged girls with fantasies of granduer, and pedophiles.

If it wasn't for the Tour de France and Formula 1, the satelite dish on my roof would be used for target practice.
As pointed out up-thread, it's the freaking Learning Channel. But nobody learns anything watching it.
If you're interested in learning something about how motorcycles are built, how fish are caught, how trees are cut down, or how that aligator skin on your Florshiems got there, whatever you do, don't watch the motorcycle show, the fish-catching show, the logging show, or any of the twenty or thirty alligator shows. You'll just waste your time.
If you do watch, however, you will see a series of arguements and fights among the loggers, mechanics, fisherman and Oakies in swamps.
And don't forget the competition. Do people really care which group of Oregon shitheads cuts down the most pine trees this season? Or which rusted shithulk of a boat catches the most fish? Why even keep track?
No more learning on The Learning Channel, no more discovery on the Discovery Channel, and no more art or entertainment on Arts and Entertainment ( A&E ), unless you think cleaning a shitpile out of an abandoned storage locker in Moreno Valley is *art*.
When was the last time you saw anything historical on the History Channel? There used to be interesting stuff there - even if it was something like "The History Of Paint".
( I'm not making that up. I saw that one several years ago, and learned a few things about paint - like blue was always a hard color to get your hands on, and why lead was added to paint, but not anymore )
Now, "history" is apparently best represented by a couple of sloppy fat-asses in a pawn shop, arguing and fighting among one another. At least that's what someone there thinks, because that's what now dominates that once-interesting channel.
Everything seems to follow the same format. Some call it "reality" or "competition" shows. But this crap is really more like a soap opera than anything else. In the soap operas your Aunt used to watch, the hospital they were set in was there only as a backdrop for inter-personal conflicts and rivalries, and not as an actual hospital.
Same with these modern soap operas, but now it's not the hospital. It's the swamp, or the crab boat, or the motorcycle shop as the set for the soap opera action.
Or the baby fashion show ( which I suspect is not really a show about baby fashion, but more about the arguements and fights among the participants ).
