2nd ascent of the NA Wall on El Cap in Sept of 1968, four years after the 1st ascent by Robbins, Frost, Pratt and Chouinard in Oct 1964. The 3rd ascent was by Kroger and Davis.
The pre-harness,-nut, -cam and -portaledge era.
On an earlier attempt in the spring, Hennek had taken a nasty fall on the 8th pitch, cracked a number of ribs and they descended.
In 1967 Hennek and Lauria had done the 3rd ascent of the Dihedral Wall.

I wonder how the reporter found out about the climb.
How could they pass on this Robbins shot of Henneck?
