hey there say, the warbler....
i know, :(
you are SO right...
sometimes, though,it's not to be...
but i do know, somehow, the right answer will turn up...
i'm still leaning towards that boat cover type stuff???
and someone from around here to help me tack and anchor it...
just got to find the 'right material stuff'
boaters, too may know what would work, as well...
(like someone suggested)...
but--you are very well stated:
you know your stuff, :)

Neebee:
Talk to your neighbors and get a recommendation for a good local contractor.
Get an evaluation on your shed and get a quote. Won't cost a penny.
Hint: Ask one of your neighbors to be there when the contractor comes.
Worry about money only after you know how big the problem is.

hey there say, silver, spider, and jstan... and all the above... :)
wow, thanks for chipping in here...
say, spider, i THINK my twin buddies mentioned something like that stuff...
they may have even used it... i will email them, thanks... back when i first tried to do something, i just had a few extra bucks...
now, that i have this newer amount, i can perhaps look into that, better than a tarp...
also, say, jstan and johntp, and all, i will still get someone to look at it for a quote, or at least for info on what should or could be done...
thanks again all...
well, the grandkids are here, and i have to water turnip greens and plants, soon, so i best go...
say, it MAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY even have small thunderstorms today,
not best for the shed, but the ol' garden will love it...
(oops, the baby bird is still in the shed, and has not flown off, :( ...his MOM was not happy about his last night... hope the rains, if they come, are not BAD for it... oh my)...
well, see you all soon as i know more... but i will stop by and read, if
i get a chance...
god blesss...

I second/third/forth the suggestion that you get this fixed properly. It's a beautiful shed and you want it to last. Any tarp that is durable will cost a lot of $. Cheap ones disintegrate in a year and any other cheap fix is going to require you climbing on top of the roof.
Like JStan said.. it costs nothing to get estimates.
The Taco can help you out with the the rest. E and I are good for a contribution as well.

but--i have to do some kind of a 'gift back' here...
as--this is surely not a health emergency, etc...
just a dream in my heart...
thanks for giving me the little push up trail here...

I am in for 50 bucks. Warbler is right on but if you have to do a temp fix use the heavy black plastic and nail it down with thin strips of wood

Just get ply wood from home depot.
They have cheap pieces that are sturdy and will hold weight for like $20 a sheet of 8x4ft.

Neeb-
if you post your paypal email we can just send bucks.
you got the right way to do it above, the best wrong way, is Visqueen,
lumber yards have it and some sellit by the foot, super heavy plastic shhet, super wide, one piece would seamlessly cover the works for 20 bucks.
hold in place with strips of wood below and above every two feet, nail through. the holes from the nails will be in high places and not leak.

hey there say, all....
first, before anyone helps... let me do the three suggestions here on the list...
the estimate... in case they say it is not worth it,or something...
the liquid stuff...
and the stuff from the lumber yard...
i will find out about all three... i have to do it tomorrow... the kids just left... i will see if someone will look at it...
god bless and thank you with all my heart...
i just want to take care, and do it best, but easiest on all...
:)
and--if i do... i will plan on simple thankyou gifts... will take time, as i do a bit at a time, over the year... :))

Get the quotes per jstan and warbler's posts. Make sure the contractor is licensed and insured.
There is no need to feel you do not deserve this. You have given so much to many on the taco. Getting this shed fixed up for you would do our heart's good; to repay all the good you have done for us here.
Cheers!

I would be in for $50 to help out.
But if that don't work you could get a 18 ft x 16 ft pretty cheap. When you get it open it up on the ground and tie some 40 ft pieces of masonary string ( $2 for 250 ft) to the grommets in two corners and one in the middle. Tie the end of the strings to something like a 1/2 inch nut or a fishing weight, a stick,, any thing you can throw over the roof. Once you get the three stings over the roof you and a friend could pull the tarp over the ridge and get it in a position where you could nail down the edges thru the grommets with out having to go up on the roof. Use 1 1/2 inch roofing nails with some washers at the grommets. Should last a few years anyway Best to do on a calm day..
Warbler and the others are right though, for 4 or 5 hundred bucks you would have a 20 year roof.
