Life is a crapshoot and a poker game!
One of Bardini's many well-worn expressions.

What Silver said.

Ironic that I am sitting at a coffee shop in Jackson right now, and look out at the Tetons every morning from my bandit-camp. Even though I never met the great Bardini, I think of him often with this view.

Very sorry I never had the pleasure.

I remember it well, I was there. A truly sad day for the vast army of friends Bardini was able to assemble with his glowing personality and his innate kindness.

I think of Alan whenever i walk or ski by the big cabin up at the Mammoth Mine...Bard , Carter , Oakshott , and the other usual suspects hung out in that cabin on occasion when they were guiding ski tours for Dave Beck...Those old cabins are collapsing into ruin but the memories live on...rj

I lived at his house shortly after he passed and my house was closing. His spirit was there.Epperson was the neighbor and Don Lauria was my landlord.Awww...BITD.

Right on RJ! Bardini's charisma was left as legacy in places like the Trapp Lodge in Vermont where as ski instructors, we were given particular leniency by our boss for crazy behavior because Bardini and the Californians had been crazier and been crazy with style when they worked there the previous seasons...

... long live Bardini and the pursuit of fun!

eKat- Consider scanning and sharing those letters here. Nothing beats personal correspondence for great stories. Not a lot out there about Walter either considering his talent as a climber.

Such a happy guy. It infected everyone around him. I dunno if I ever saw him get upset, pissed off, or talk sh#t on anyone.

Saying a lot, considering that those things are pretty rife among climbers.

Yeah, I miss him too.

Allan, we think and reflect on you often, especially on this day. The years fly by but our memories of you and times back them are still vivid and can only bring a smile to our faces and a tip to you mate.
