Because none of them use a turn signal...
And their right hand and phone is welded to the side of their FACE..

That say that motorcycle riders should ride as though all the cars are trying to kill them.
That means not depending on things like turn signals: watching the driver and the wheels of the car, and just expecting cars to move into your path.
Try it -- maybe it will reduce the surprises.

what about "PODS" -people obvioulsy driving shitbrained,,,that form HERDS as the go blitzing down the highway a car length behind the next doing 55 or better? The ones that are FOREVER ON MY ASS as i drive speed limits. The SAME ONES that ride yur ass when they have five miles of clear road to pass!?? The same ones that move to NEvada and think they MUST drive like they did back in METRO VILLE !???? @X%^*&@! They come here for the "open space" and ride yur azz like exhaust fumes just like they did back in lala land.. amazing really..these herds will typically be thrity cars or more and if one of has an "issue" its dominoes babay! Warning,, i brake for SPARROWS< FINCHES, BUTTERFLIES, RATS,LIZARDS, SNAKES, MICE, AND GRASSHOPPERZ!

It's the same everywhere.
Alternatively:
Now explain to me why most everyone sitting in a dedicated left turn lane with an arrow up at the light has their turn signal going the whole time during their wait in the queue.
It's one of the few situations where you can observe turn signals consistently being used. And it is the situation where it is least needed.
This in contrast to the more critical situations prior to initiating a turn where it is very often eschewed altogether. As noted in the OP.

It IS amazing how driving has deteriorated over time.
Tailgating
no turn signals
no letting people in
And there is a relationship. If you put on a signal to move into a space in the lane next to you, people speed up to cut you off. So people have learned not to signal.
Thus, what we see.
I've gotten tired of being tailgated when I'm going 70 on the freeway. Now, I slow down.
Last month, I had a guy slow down with me, right on my tail, with a clear lane to our left, all the way to 40mph for a mile. Bizarre.

lol,, how bout "roundabouts" LMAO! They have put a couple here in town,,and every time i pull up to it, i ATTEMPT to "TIME IT" as to allow for passage space and then my turn --as it was designed,,,but nooooooo,,,, some doink will ALWAYS stop, others jabbing through as if its a derby to see who nabs the next available eight feet - a complete and utter FAIL of society. four way stops would be just the same result..

Ron, are you a traffic engineer?
Roundabouts have fixed several cluster-you know whats that I've seen. I've also seen them used in places where they aren't necessarily needed. Yet. They wouldn't be spreading like the plague if they weren't effective.
The biggest problem with them is people not wanting to learn how to use them properly after they've been built. A certain segment of the population thinks roundabouts and any other intersection other than a stoplight or stop sign is some sort of subliminal UN take over plot and not a method to improve traffic flow.
I used to bitch about traffic but it's the absolute greatest waste of time and energy. You gotta watch out for yourself and don't expect anything else but idiocy from other drivers and you'll do all right.

well,, i DID go to the NDOT maintenence academy and passed lol! Worked on the roads for 8 1/2 years, so i know a little about traffic and flows thereof. You might say im intimatly familiar with all the above. And then some. Heres a factoid youve no idea of,, our nations highways and biways are littered with,,,,,,USED dildos...werd..
TRUE FACT: I could guess where someone was from and if male or female when witnessing a traffic cluster f*ck, accident or other incidents and was right 96% of the time. And that was a shat load of "incidents"...

its 1989, we are working highway 28 near sand harbor- im falling dead and dying trees along the right away so we have traffic control up,,signs,, cones the whole nine. A "lady" comes pulling up and starts to pass the flagman who has a STOP sign in his hand to her.. We heard a severe screaching noice from around the bend before she even got to us,, and a shower of sparks was being emitted from the bottom of her car as she slammed on her breaks at the LAST moment! We were already doing the "dive for life" !! Sooo the flag man walks up to her, and she rolls the window down just a ways and he asks,,Mam,, did you not see all the work zone signs warning you of a stop ahead?? She said no,, there werent ANY signs there at all!,, Then he asked her,, sssoooo you DIDNT see the one stuck under your car either ???? LMAO she was from BURBANK!;-) cant make this stuff up!

I've experienced much the same, Ron, sad to say. WE had this gal(I WON'T call her a Lady) that drove right off the edge into our 3 foot deep roadcut.....insisted that she didn't "see" it, or the mile of cones, or the half dozen warning signs, or the flaggers.
We drug her rig outa there with a 966 Loader. It didn't help it any, but who cares?

No crap Skully! I got enough material in 8 years to make a national lampoon movie o da week lol! it would be rated RR for extreme carniage on the road though! yet,, with "funny" times !
just a while ago i was passed by a car in the EMERGENCY lane on hgwy 50 E ,,,and they just kept on drivin down the road doin about 60 in a 45 zone in the emergency lane, with out any traffic in the left and right lanes,, i might add..

i was plowing in washoe valley DEC 96 during white out blizzard that the valley is KNOWN for provided by the washoe zephyr wind. We HAVE to plow with the wind in that valley, other wise the snow would end up on the road behind the plow. I was in the slow lane and plowing into the fast lane- a plow behind me a few hundred feet was plowing the fast lane into the median. UNTIL,,,mr BUTT NUGGET comes weaving up in between us obviously erked that we are only doing about 40 in a full on WHITE OUT. He gets right next toe me- i can see him as i look down out of the plow window and he is looking at the two feet of snow thats being plowed by a thirteen foot by six foot plow, coming up in a wave like curl being thrown all the way to the wedian,, i start shaking my head as he speeds up then slows down,, speeds up then slows down. LOOKED right at me shaking my head and my arm now out the window with a thumb to the back. There are people behind me and theres NO way i can lift the plow nor turn it windward and NOT cause wrecks behind me. Knumbknutts decides to "go for it" and SPLAT! his wipers freeze in about two hundred pounds of packed snow and ice and he starts the dreaded weave of perdition! He ends up going into the median bank about three to four feet high and does this really cool looking flip about eight feet in the air- and as im passing him i see him ejected in the lights of his own rig. I thought,, hmmm ya dont see that every night ! (yeah,, i swung in asap to see if he was dead, but he was up walking fine looking at his upside down toyota truck )...We started marking wrecks in storms out there with fuzees for the NHP to find- to many to have to respond ourselves and even dream about keeping the road open. ahhhh goood times!
