I saw you kayak by while I was enjoying a salami sandwich roadside! We commented on how the child in the back of your kayak looked like R2D2 on an X-wing from afar when wearing a hat. You guys were cruisin'!

Cragman...When i saw you yesterday with the boats on the cragman rig , i thought you were heading to Mono and navy beach for a D-Day re-enactment....? Seeing Marina in the storage hatch reminds me of the day my daughter sat behind me in the hatch out to Negit Island...On the 3 mile trip back the wind and waves kicked up creating a dangerous situation...i was paddling as hard as i could , making sure the paddle didn't get pushed under the water with me attached to it.... the 4 foot waves came in rapid- fire succession crashing over my bow and hosing me thoroughly between paddle strokes...Make sure you have a bilge pump and make sure you know how to do a self-rescue just in case something unexpected pops up....one more thing......thanks for the nice photos...RJ

Great pics!

Love the facing backwards in the hatch... doin her own thing.

And great shots of Hoodwink!

Was just up there last weekend with Clint. On the way up to the Valley, we heard the weather was going to be awesome, but the one place I wanted to be, even more than the Meadows, was that lake.. And of course we started out with South Crack. First time up there in 5 years. Great pics!

I had a great time climbing with Cragman on Saturday. Here are some pics of Dean stylin' -

Pitch 2 (5.10a)

(I hung on this one)

Pitch 3 (5.10b)

(I hung on this one too)

Pitch 4 (5.10a)

(Finally a pitch involving something my body can actually do -- stemming !)

I got to lead the first and last pitch -

Afterwards we went to the Whoa Nellie for fish tacos and hung out with Lynne Leichtfuss. What a relaxed and mellow time.

Thanks for the beta on Fairview -- I had a great time, and led the first pitch. The crux jams were wet of course, but I somehow managed without pulling on gear or hanging :) It did take me a couple of false starts before I finally committed. My partner was not in the mood for the slimy holds, but she managed -

She took the next couple of pitches -- a full 70m that had me tired and gasping. I even got passed by the obligatory soloist, hahaha :) We simuled after pitch 7, but we eventually tired of that and just soloed.

Really enjoyed the route. The views of Cathedral, Unicorn, Coxcomb, and Tresidder were wonderful -

Did not get a particularly early start, so we got to the top around 6:40pm and back to the car around 8-ish.

johntp, naw, can't afford an alpacka just yet, and as I'm just starting to get into pack rafting (amongst all the other activities I do) I gotta watch the dinero. The raft pictured is an old German life raft. Weighs a bit more than an Alpacka, 9 lbs v 5 lbs, but is really durable. Good thing too, since at this point I seem to carom thru the raids more than slip thru!
