A couple weekends ago, Ammon and I climbed a variation: Shortest Straw to the Zodiac. We had an amazing climb together! It was my first climb since Wings of Steel and felt great to be back up on the Captain. We tried to go lighter than our usual "big wall camping style". We short-fixed the entire route, we didn't bring a portaledge and slept on natural ledges, and we brought a couple gallons of water & only a few beers (which were drank the first day). Hope you all enjoy the photos and they inspire you to get out there and climb!

So it hits the little ledges at the base of the Great Circle. Right?
You actually end up in the middle of the 7th pitch of Zodiac right below the Grey Circle, about 60 feet above the small ledge. I thought it would be an ok bivy for two... I was wrong, pretty grim, ha haa

did you guys take any video?
We took some clips hiking loads, a few before we launched and a couple of me climbing through the "Journey through the Brain". Nothing turned out all that great, though. I had headphones on and was singing and talking to myself, ha haa. Kinda sounds like a crazy person up there ;)

Fun report.
In the long run I think I'd stick to wall camping over going light. For me the best part is when the ledge is all set up and you get to relax.

I like both styles Prod, we do plenty of ledge sitting and I've done a ton of fast and light ascents.
The whole point on this one was to climb one of the easier El Cap routes with an added challenge of not being able to just sleep at any belay.
Kait is learning quickly, been learning to lead harder pitches and will be ready for El Cap in a day soon.

where did you guys get the Torpedos in cans????
They came out a few months ago and stocked in most grocery stores. They also sell them at the Village and Lodge stores. Awesome, huh?
