Do a drive by and say hi, Chris! I'm planning on going and could be there as early as 5ish from SLC. Plenty of daylight to get a quick pitch in. Elephant Rock just across the road!

I'll be sussing out campsite #20 tonight m'self (friends from Montana there). If anyone's around, stop and say "howdy".

So looking forward to this. Already have the schedule arranged, now I gotta get tires on the car, maybe struts too. (Poor thing, at 21, falling apart!)

I'd be great to see MightyHiker, and meet my near-neighbors Fritz & Heidi.

I wonder if we will cook or freeze while there? That place seems quite unpredictable weather wise!

We climbed hard on Tuesday morning and early afternoon (I'm a mass of bruises and sore muscles), then took a shower and checked phone & emails in Almo and climbed again late afternoon.

I lost the climbing camera for the day and just accepted "Donini-climbing-punishment."

Back in camp on Tuesday evening we got to see a true example of "team-building!"

Hey Crimpergirl, did you bring Pente the cat to the base routes of El Cap a bunch of years ago? I remember seeing a cat there about 12 or so years ago chilling at El Cap with it's owners and thought it was really funny.

Relic - not Pente - she's only about 8 years old. Her predecessor Puma was also a traveling rock climbing cat (having the only Feline Ascent of a dome in Tuolumne. Pente got tooled on and attempted ascent in Tuolumne though on a leash). I'll have to ask BrassNuts about Puma in Yosemite. She was B.C. (before Crimpergirl). :)

Seth & Jeebus will be there next week. I will be there for the weekend, that's my plan, anywho. I have a mostly black 2 door jeep Cherokee.
So there!

Capt'n:

You have no such thing (as a two door Jeep Cherokee). Cherokee is a station wagon thing, I used to have one before I got tired of putting up with an overpriced under-performing under-sized and expensive to repair consumer box with an "electronic" (Japanese) four wheel drive that blows out every time a fuse blows, stranding you wherever. ((... OK, its a fusible link, even worse, its harder to find and replace in the wild. And its UNDER the car, dammit.))

2 door Cherokee (A "Sport"; also known as a Jeep POS.)

You (Skully) have a Jeep pickup, also known as a Comanche.

2 door Comanche (IE: a TRUCK)

(His vehicle looks very similar to this one, only more dents and rust. You 'Topians will know it from the 30 pounds of aluminum beer cans rolling around the back.)

You actually have a far superior vehicle for a climber. You can't get much sh#t inside a Cherokee and you'd have to be a 10 year old or a midget to comfortably sleep inside one. A Comanche can be piled high and the tailgate dropped for floor space. (Don't you have the one with the auto transmission?)

But if you keep saying you got a Cherokee nobody is going to find you.

How about telling them to look for a slim, handsome, middleaged man with a lot of hair?

When they find me, I'll point you out and send them over.

Supposed to be quite windy today & tomorrow at City of Rocks with top gusts up to 40mph. We have delayed our visit by a day, but we will see how windy it is tomorrow.

Temps will be real pleasant though!
