Hearing of DMT's near-miss, I got out the files on the Coast Range.
These were shot in 2013 coming home from Tom's Thumb in NorCal via I-5.
I hoped that Fiske Peak or Blue Ridge might be among the treasures.
I cannot tell, however.

Out of the Way spots you probably never heard of.

Google "Chrome, CA" but it's unincorporated and of little note but for its name, but what do I know?

I've never BEEN there, but maybe Dingus has. Hell, he's probably eaten there.

Then there is Fruto.

Thanks for the clarification, you two.

Colony Collapse Disorder:
There has NOT been a satisfactory explanation for the profound loss of beehives that has taken place since 2006.
some apiarists are beginning to believe there is no single cause but rather a perfect storm of pathogens, parasites,
pesticides, poor beekeeping practices, and even ELECTROMAGNETIC EMANATIONS from cell towers that are to blame.

The Merry Month can be a fickle dame, alright.

Reading TRs is not hazardous, but read this one at your own risk, anyway.

a decade ago, i drove away stumped by a grove of these ... weeks later,
just before dozing off thinking about nothing, it came to me ... pistachios!

Farming

was told recently,
"you have an amazingly
fertile mind"

"really," I said,
"you mean like
growing squash
or corn?"

a farmer prepares the ground
cultivating
long, even furrows
nurturing seeds
to sprouts

then at sunrise
long under
a blistering sun
inserts small plants
six inches apart
into the moist soil

"yes, my mind seems fertile,
bursting
through the dirt
sweat and sun,
spread over
a vast, rich earth,
but in reality
it's the fertilizer
bountiful and plenty,
that I'm full of"
--Charlie Mariano

Bellevue Ranch was the headquarters for the huge Crocker-Huffman Land & Cattle Co.
It was a few miles north of Merced until Merced's growth caught up with it in the 1990s.
Most all the land on the far rise in the last shot is now burnt due to the Detwiler fire this week.

Weel now, considering that that peninsular ridge is MID watershed land, mostly, there's no one living out there.

Officially, of course.
Let's agree to worry about them, if we're gonna worry.

But worrying is like paying a debt you don't owe.

Mark Twain said that. Then someone may have written it down.

Or he may have written it to begin with.

I'm obsessing, but I don't worry, cuz I'm sittin' on top of the world.

Forgive my dirft.
