See how decadent this lot!
They cry for mayhem
And their fiber is rot!
Look! How with ego fraught,
Now down with them
To the death they've bought.

i guess some people have to have it spelled out.

to put it gently, it has to do with the pleasures of mixed company such as climbing can uniquely deliver. if you haven't experienced that, you're missing a lot--if you have affinity for mixed company, that is. reference what chiloe said.

I cannot tell you how different this experience that I just had was from watching adults tear into each other, basically for a bout of good-natured fun that left some one bothered by the reaction or non-reaction, sure, but there was no harm done, really, and no one killed anyone. It was entertaining, and enlightening; the very essence of didaction, in fact.

No, this was totally different. I took a group of 28 third graders around the county museum for a tour. Such polite little girls and boys. Not as articulate as some of you all, but a joy to be around, all the same. And one of their questions was about climbing. One kid asked how long it took to get to the top of the cupola of the courthouse. I told him to come volunteer as a docent when he is older and we would find out together, but that it takes longer than you might think. He reallly, realllly wanted to go up there. I hope his dream comes true. Never get between a kid and his dreams.

"gently"

Bless you, my brother. Namaste.

As someone once said, gently, to me, "..."

And what Kief said, too. :)

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

Of course, in the alternate ST version the happy little singing girl on the mountaintop gets strafed by the Luftwaffe!
