We came across this sign on our way up to Shady Lady and the Nubbin. Anyone know the story behind this?

There is quite a bit of private property around Castle Rock State Park. Do you have a problem with respecting the rights of those property owners to post signs to keep you off their property? Even though you might respect their land and leave no trace there are many that would just trash it. This has been going on up there for years. The park has bought a lot of the properties that used to be private so signs are necessary to avoid confusion. I have been shot at and ticketed up there for trespassing, it is not fun and it could have been avoided if I merely payed attention and respected private property. Is this the first time you have seen such a sign?

West and below Castle Rock there is a ridge with several rocks big enough to use a rope on. Near the top of the ridge facing south is a large face with a chimney splitting it. I'm not sure what it is called now but we called it the Shelves. That whole ridge was private property. When one was on the Shelves they could be seen by the caretaker across the valley. His name was Sneed and he had a couple of sons and they were all pricks and took pleasure at chasing people off the land. He was known to take pot shots at people and I was one of them. One time he caught us and gave us a choice to see the sheriff or hike out the long way, all the way down to the Falls. I think that land is in the park now and has some good climbing there.
