I just gave a bit for the film.
I ran into Fred in 2005, i was an aspiring alpinist going to do the E. Buttress and Fishhook Arete-Fred was coming down Carillon Creek with a dour expression on his mug-i stopped him, awed, said "why, you're that Fred Beckey! What were you doing up there?" He smiled, never told us, kept on moving after a moment.

Am copying below, from an email I just received, about the World Premiere screenings of DIRTBAG: THE LEGEND OF FRED BECKEY.
I can't wait to see it!
Announcing DIRTBAG premiere screenings at Mountainfilm in Telluride and SIFF in Seattle
The moment has arrived!
The movie is done after more than a decade in the making.
We're proud to announce the first ever public screenings of DIRTBAG: THE LEGEND OF FRED BECKEY.
The film will World Premiere over Memorial Day Weekend at Mountainfilm in Telluride (May 26-29), followed shortly by the Northwest Premiere on June 4 and June 10 at SIFF in Seattle!
Tickets will sell out fast, so act now at the links above if you plan to attend!
If you live outside of the Telluride and Seattle areas, don't worry! We're planning to take the film on tour in 2017-18 to screen in as many cities and festivals as possible.

Note to self-When I ever make it down to Yosemite to meet Werner, do not drive sprinter. Try to find old red VW van like Bachar's.

I happened to be able to see the movie this winter, previewing it with one of the MF judges. It's really incredible on so many levels! The archival footage alone is worth anything to watch the movie. Above all, it's the story of a man, and a life.......not simply a "legend." In that, I personally found much of the movie achingly heartbreaking, if not just heart-wrenching. In this aspect, it lingered with me for a long time. The decisions we make as people, as climbers, the compromises and sacrifices that make up a life, for good or ill. Jack climbed quite a bit with Fred BTD, so I've always heard many stories of their various adventures in the Sierra.
At any rate, I highly recommend it! Watch it if you get a chance!

You should consider the AAC's Moab Craggin' Classic this fall, as a venue for this film!
