Thanks all....just left Mountain Room Broiler and sitting in the cafe sipping tea. Ferretlegger sprung for a great dinner. Soon back to a chilly camp....but actually it's not all that cold. Tomorrow up to the high country since Tioga Road is open. Supposedly there is ice skating up at Tenaya Lake? Wonder how bumpy it is.
Yosemite, beautiful as always but I do miss the snow....be afraid of what you wish for....

Hey wow, thanks! Ferretlegger and I are off to Yose for some backcountry ski touring and camping. Tried of humping loads on my back so Ferret did this rig for me....
Hopefully no more of this...
We love back country touring when it's a full moon and this year my BD falls on a full moon!

Happiest of Birthday's SUsan!! now I know Ferretlegger means well, but the women have to stick together..there is a trick to managing the sled. the thing will chase you downhill and slide right to left on firm snow. He MIGHT want to rig a soft line to the rear end of that thing and help you guide it downhill. No matter what he says he has to carry his own wine bottles and you stick to 40 lbs or so. It IS your birthday. Have Fun!

The short answer is: "Yes, you will be able to schlep stuff that way."
Oh, but wait... You asked if you would be able to schlep more stuff that way. Well, the answer to that is both yes and no.
I've hauled some heavy loads that way, and my experience is that the flatter the terrain, the bigger the advantage of a pulk. But once things get steep -- uphill or downhill -- they suck.
Oh, wait... I forgot. Happy birthday!
