...now that I've got my new Deluxe Atom Smasher from Fish!

Thanks to Russ for the prompt delivery during this busy time of year. My backpack, which is designed for alpine climbing and ice (I do a great deal of that stuff so it makes sense) has been getting destroyed by Josh rock. So a couple of weeks ago a threw down the dollars for a Deluxe Atom Smasher. My Fish haul bag is still going strong after a couple of dozen walls between myself and friends who have borrowed it, so I'm sure at my age the Atom Smasher is going to outlive me. I'm off to the store to get some Plasti-Dip for the exposed stitching.

Just a public plug for Fish: quick service, bomber gear, made in America.

Brian

PS--I have no intention of trying to onsight Throbbing Gristle at any point in the near future...

Atomsmashers rool!

Good luck on your goal! The only known ascencionist (tr) is dead. The best effort to date (that I know of) is Shanti's one dangle lead.

But if you are harnessing the Atom you're sure to do it!

....And watch that crazy ice shit! It's been known to quelch offwidth climbers in their prime....

Hey Brian - when did you place that order? I'm thinking of ordering something but not sure about delivery times - wouldn't really need it until the end of January. Not sure how to reach the man himself.

The only known ascencionist (tr) is dead.

I've TR'd it clean twice now..as a lieback through the bottom both times. Loan me a couple 9" VGs and I'll lead it next month. 11+ as a lieback, knee bar trickery to place gear.

So Will, are you going to go back to trying to jam it, or is that idea
dead to you?

And, hey, way to go and all that jazz.

Oooohhh God.... not more Throbbing Gristle??!!!!! Haven't we had enough yet???? I have!

Plasti-dip? Like in 25 years.........they really don't need it. Honest they're bomber especially if you're using it as a crag pack not on big walls. Save the dip and keep it as handsome as the day it arrived.

Want a special treat? Order the super top-secret non-advertised "biscuit" for your valuables but don't tell Russ where you heard about it.

Thanks for the business. Can we quit now?

I'm seriously going back when I can wrangle some VG 9"ers to try to lead it liebacking, and I'll give her a whirl jamming afterwards, but I'm not really in good arm barring shape...and honestly once I'd done it liebacking (even once I'd tried it liebacking once and knew it would be WAY easier for me that way) I kinda lost interest in doing in the harder way. Especially since it kicks my ass trying to do it in wide style, I've just been bouted too many times.

Normally it would be too sketch to place gear on something like that in a lieback, but there are enough knee bars on the bottom half to place gear from what are essentially hands-free rests and then crawl in after the biz and do the upper half in conventional wide style.

I actually need a couple FISH chalkbags. I don't feel I'm prancing to my fullest ability with the crap I currently have.

Bra.... I am so here for you.

Heh, for me the lieback way would be harder.
None of the other guys I saw attempting it as a lieback made nearly as
much progress as you, either.
I'm thinking I have a pretty good chance at making it on arm bars if I get
back there.
