Out here on the sand it is all about 30# paper and 3 tab shingles. About 25 clams per bundle for the shingles. If I remember right, it cost just over a buck a SqFt for shingles, paper, schmoo and drip edge. This is just for the shingle stuff. If you got structure problems, add in some OSB sheets etc.

I'll be there!

I'd be betting on needing quite a bit of new sheeting. Probably some eve work as well. This is ain't gonna be no tear it off, blow it on.

Thanks for getting this together Dave!

Is the roof more than 4 in 12 so's the comp shingles are legal and effective?

That doesn't look like no 4 in 12 which could explain why those shingles
aren't doin' the job. However, re-roofing over those with a liberal use
of Henry's should get them a good 20-25 years if the actual leak sites can be
identified.

One thing that would concern me is that if it has been leaking badly for a
while what damage has been done to the actual roof structure in terms of dry rot?
To adequately deal with that would entail a total tear-off. Chances are
good that out there in tumbleweed land things would dry out well enough.

Hope we can make it. Have to be in DC at the end of April though. Hopefully it'll work out.

Well, that would up the ante considerably plus illegals would have to be
allowed onto the property. It looks to me like that might be the original
roof in which case a tear-off really might not be necessary. It would be
interesting to know the number of pots and pans needed for a typical rainstorm
and whether they have to be emptied. What I'm trying to say is that a little
water can make a big impression way out of proportion to its actual import.
If we're talking 8-10 one-potters then I think Henry's and a straight re-roof
would get it. Beyond that is a roof of worms...

Is there a PayPal button or address to chip in? This vegan can bring the diminutive love, but would like to help out Todd.

If it's been leaking for a while, a new roof deck is in order. At the least, a few new panels. I should know, I'm dealing with
the same problem.

The mayor is working on a date.

The details of the roof will be worked out.

The actual construction won't take place the same weekend as the party.

Marty(r) hold on to your cash. I will work out the details of donating asap. I have a Paypal account. We may use that. I will decide muy pronto.

As well, the details of the roof job will be worked out as we go. It is obviously not a patch job. We want this roof to last for the next 30-50 years. The extent of the repairs can only be decided after the old shite is removed. Also, whether it is done by a bunch of us with an expert roofing guy as lead or just paying some local contractor will also have to be worked out. I know a little about this as I had my own roof redone last year. We got a great job for less than $9000.00 with a fair amount of lumber replacement. My neighbor payed $14,000.00 for a similar job. I would be happiest if it was done all by folks we know and not some stranger.

EDIT: RLF- sorry man. My error could fall under the heading "Monday Night Posting While Intoxicated."
