OK! I "screwed the pooch" and started this thread with too small a title.

This is the Astrology Guide for climbers from one of only 3 issues of the early 1970's climbing publication: Vulgarian Digest.

The magazines were "cutting edge" with classic: black humor, nudity, and 4 letter words.

What's not to like?

This is a "more appropriate" title and I am going to delete the Fritz & Heid Astrology thread.

Sorry to have briefly confused us. Life is confusing at times.

and here are the great astrology pages.

Crimpergirl: It didn't post until a recent re-try.

It is now the last page of signs.

We Libra's are frequently involved in fiascos!

I just remembered we have the same B-day!

Fritz!

I'm a Capricorn and the description fits...

The goat gets around to irritating everybody, because he's so good. He's not only ambitious and competent, he's convinced he's right. And he is, and will be hated for it...capricorn is well-prepared, practical, and dogmatic. He quotes the classics and knows who made the first ascent of what in 1887, because he read it somewhere and never forgets.

I think these days, it's called "anal-retentive?" :D

Broke-down: I note that Libras are supposed to stay away from Capricorns,

since super-organization annoys them.

Maybe we both have mellowed with the years.

I was always a hard-pusher for a Libra (but the fiasco-stuff applies) and you seem like a fairly-mellow Capricorn.

No problems-dude.

if somebody (not me) was really bored, they could make a zodiac sign tabulation for other bored climbers to fill in with their signs. For shits and grins

wow...I need to get a 'sex-symbol' wife.

Then again, gotta start working on the 'he' thing first, heh!

That was fun!

Quite amusing! As a Sagittarius it states I collect women but I assume that flips as I have lots of male friends.

It really nailed the Virgo blurb. I can vouch that Virgo's overworked sense of proprietary is shocked by Sag. They should never share a rope or anything else.

Because the Earth wobbles when it spins (like a top) all the astrology signs have changed since they came up with them so long ago and are WRONG.

I propose just picking you own sign. Much more scientificaly valid.

I'm debating between: Orion, Cygnus, or Crux. Wait wouldn't all climbers be Crux?

Applying science to astrology is just wrong, dude!

Unless you are discussing astrology with an astronomer, then watching their reactions is hilarious!

Well this thread explains a lot!

Frank Sacherer was an Aries and I am Pisces.

"Aries. Best climbing companions? Anybody but Pisces, whose moodiness will cause
Aries to be impatient. Pisces will hate him. Oh it'll be awful".

And here's mine. "Pisces people are good climbers. No matter what you have heard elsewhere. Pisces is always looking for the meaning of life and not finding it. Or finding it and not liking it".

And as the scientists on threads like What is Mind ? can tell you, Pisces " view rocks and horse-shit as mystical symbols".

What will 2016 reveal?

Did you know that El Capitan is, in fact, a Capricorn? He's also a bit of a sprayer and a blowhard, but he's still fun.

Capricorn: “Climbing to the Top.”

You’ve been working hard, Capricorn, but you have gone through some serious setbacks through the process. Your sense of self, as well as the stamp you want to mark on the world, has been going through radical change.

Letting go has been a key theme of the past. Now is the time to reap the rewards of that process. The first part of 2016 is beneficial to learning new things as well as your spiritual development. You will be able to take advantage of what you’ve learned in the 2nd half when your career gets a boost.

Key Words: Peace of Mind, Breaking Barriers, Lightening Up, Believing the Impossible is Possible.

Close Out 2015 With this Song: Peace of Mind by Above and Beyond.

I remember when that issue of the Vulgarian Digest came out. Mine is safely hidden away with my other early 1970's climbing journals. The climbing horoscope cracked me up, particularly when I found out that Harding and Steck were fellow Geminis (who, per Zola the Gypsy, should stay off long climbs [such as Hummingbird Ridge or Wall of the Early Morning Light.]) The description of Pisces did, however, seem to fit Pratt reasonably well.

And yes, that cartoon in the "Famous Climber's School" ad is one by Sheridan Anderson, but they tilted it for the ad. The original, with more of an Apron-type orientation, was in Basic Rockcraft.
