"Annual premiums for employer-sponsored family health coverage reached $16,351 this year, up 4 percent from last year, with workers on average paying $4,565 towards the cost of their coverage, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation/Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET) 2013 Employer Health Benefits Survey."
http://kff.org/private-insurance/report/2013-employer-health-benefits/

So...72% is average.

I hate to see what my employer contribution is! I know it's more than 72% or 74% though. I pay 10$ a month (with a hefty deductible). Why? Because there are tons (and I mean TONS) of us in our insurance pool.

It's a shame everyone can't be in a huge pool like that. Maybe some day we will have single payer and people can. Until then, the ACA offers many more folks the option to be in a larger pool.

If the health care insurance that ObamaCare provides is too expensive, why don't the Republicans work to help lower the prices???
We could have super low cost health care insurance if we had the full Congress working together on it.

Why don't they ever try to help fix things?
why?
instead they want to repeal it and replace it with nothing except even Higher priced health care insurance.

I think the proper words that describes their behavior would be "greedy worthless pigs"

The ACA is a baby step to Single Payer. Can't wait.

Why don't they ever try to help fix things?
why?

Why?

Because rather than working for their constituents, they work to enrich the insurance companies.

Which brings up the real question - why can't their constituents see through the veil of propaganda they spew and why do they continue to vote for them when it's against their best interests?

I guess Rong, Bluering, and Tea GT explain that regularly 'round here...

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/05/09/fifteen-differences/

Iíve noticed over the years, there are some fundamental differences in the way Republican and Democratic politicians think. Here are just 15 examples.

Republicans fear that the government has too much control over corporations. Democrats fear that corporations have too much control over our government.

Democrats believe it benefits all of us to help the weakest and the poorest among us. Republicans believe it benefits all of us to help the wealthiest and most powerful among us.

Republicans believe large corporations will always do what is best for the American people if the government stays out of the way. Democrats believe large corporations would disembowel you and sell your organs to the highest bidder if the government didnít stop them.

Democrats believe everyone is entitled to health care regardless of their ability to pay. Republicans believe everyone is entitled to jack squat if they canít pay for health care.

Democrats believe too much of our money goes to crooked corporate executives who take government subsidies and pay themselves $80 million salaries. Republicans believe too much of our money goes to teachers who make $30,000 a year.

Democrats believe anything that helps the American people during a recession or a time of crisis is the true essence of patriotism. Republicans believe anything that helps the American people during a recession or a time of crisis is the true essence of communism.

Democrats believe that we need to set high standards for clean air and drinking water. Republicans believe that standards for clean air and water are burdensome over-regulation.

Democrats believe the President and Congress need to work together to create jobs during a weak economy. Republicans believe that Congress should do nothing to create jobs and then blame the President.

Democrats believe that corporate polluters should be made to pay for the cleanup of their pollution. Republicans believe that making corporations clean up their pollution is burdensome over-regulation.

Democrats believe our health care system exists solely for the purpose of making people healthy. Republicans believe our health care system exists solely for the purpose of making a healthy profit.

Democrats believe Congress should be of the people, by the people and for the people. Republicans believe corporations are the people.

Democrats believe that corporations have too much influence over Congress due to their lobbyists and huge campaign contributions. Republicans believe the middle class has too much influence over Congress due to their voting and paying taxes.

Democrats believe we need to protect victims of corporate negligence by allowing Americans to file lawsuits against corporations. Republicans believe we need to protect large corporations from lawsuits by Americans whoíve been victimized by them.

Democrats believe that the rich should be taxed more than the poor and middle class. Republicans believe that the rich should be allowed to keep all their wealth, except for the millions in campaign contributions they give to politicians.

Democrats believe that too much money in politics produces corruption and destroys the American way of life. Republicans believe that money and corruption in politics are the American way of life.

These are just my observations from a lifetime of watching Democratic and Republican politicians. Iím sure some Republican will come up with their own clever list.

Feel free to add any differences youíve noticed between the two parties in the comments section below.

Unfortunately, I have to agree that that list is largely fantasy.

Democrats and Republicans alike have been in power to long and are almost universally mere lackeys of corporate america. Well, most of you are too... but that's a different issue.

I voted about 90% third party last go 'round and will probably do so again. Not to say I wouldn't take Obama over Romney, but face it... there isn't nearly as much difference as their should be.

History shows there are fundamental differences between the basic platforms of the two parties. History also shows America as a whole does better under Democratic administrations.

But you who would believe the system doesn't work, that they are all the same, that your vote doesn't matter, that one person can't make a difference, you are just buying into and promoting the agenda of self serving Billionaires. So I ask you WHY? When so many are trying to bail out the boat, why do you still try to swamp US? What do you expect to get from the Billionaires after you accomplished their agenda for them?

Republican leaders aren't concerned about America as a whole, that's why - it's no coincidence.

Republican leaders serve the wealthy, and fool the rest - simple as that.

The crazy thing is, seems to me if America as a whole is doing well, it trickles up to them, but that doesn't seem to be good enough for the wealthy.

They seem to be more satisfied when the 99% is having hard times, perhaps because they feel wealthier by comparison.

Like fatty used to say, to paraphrase -

What good is wealth if you can't use it to feel superior to other people.

I do hear a lot of whinning about the wealthy. From what ive experienced so far in life, its all relative. They have their bills the poor have theirs and they both seem equally hard to pay. Ive seen wealthy folks fall apart just like the poor, families busted the same.

Yeah all those poor Richie Riches that gobbled up the limited addition of the gold inlaid and diamond encrusted iPads for $10,000,000.00 each must have had such a hard time paying those bills. Ron I doubt you have ever known a truly rich person.
