My town actually has a Reagan fan club:

http://www.pe.com/local-news/riverside-county/temecula/temecula-headlines-index/20110705-temecula-ronald-reagan-celebrated-at-vail-lake-resort.ece

Hundreds braved the heat Saturday to celebrate the 100th birthday of former President Ronald Reagan at Vail Lake Resort in Temecula.

I was just reading some Hillary and came across this quote that reminded me of earlier statements about how does the debt harm us....from 2010

I think our rising debt level…poses a national security threat, and poses a national security threat in two ways. It undermines our capacity to act in our own interest, and it does constrain us where constraint may be undesirable. And it also sends a message of weakness internationally.

just wish they would do more than talk.

So I look in this afternoon and see this gem:

just ignore the bitter ignorant little dumb fuk

Norton. Whoever you are... Was that directed at me?

I ask because while we often disagree I make an effort to keep it clean. I don't say things on the forum that I would not feel comfortable voicing in person. Would you make a remark like that to my face??

just wish they would do more than talk

No need given it's such a tired 'the sky is falling' meme...

And if you're really concerned about it then the best solution is to insure republicans and 'conservatives' don't get the kind of moronic carte blanche to wreck the economy that Reagan, Bush Sr., and W had.

The "bitter ignorant little dumb fuk" was most likely directed at bookworm.

Unfortunately, the description does hit the mark.

Kris, that description fits me a lot better than it fits you! Yeah, I think Dave is right, it's aimed at bookworm.

Unfortunately, the description does hit the mark.

You're pretty loose with your lips there. It actually amazes me that you would pass off a remark like that, not knowing me at all. But perhaps the idea that you, the great mastermind that you are, could actually get along with a person whose opinions differ from yours is just too much to comprehend.

Sad really.

edit: Whatever. Couldn't let that shot go unanswered I'm sure you understand.

Gary,

I'm not sure at whom that description was aimed, but it certainly fits neither you nor Kris nor, to my mind, bookworm, whose sources and references demonstrate a level of knowledge that contraindicates using ignorance as his descriptor.

I think Norton was just saying, in effect, "Don't let the turkeys get you down," but in a way designed to elicit inflamed responses. Put in Forumspeak: It's a Troll!

Kris, I wasn't talking about you. I meant that Norton's description of bookworm hit the mark (of bookworm.) Sorry for the poor wording.

Bookworm's posts go beyond the point of simply having a strong opinion. Like ontheedge said above, his posts display a level of bitterness that strikes me as a tad "creepy."

So Kris, if we ever cross paths (I think I did see you once at New Jack City...), I'd consider it a privilege to shake your hand and would like to buy you a beer.

(I'd also like to meet bookworm someday, but more out of curiosity...)

Yeah well first I got trolled, even though perhaps the hook was meant for another fish. Then I thought I got suckerpunched by Kos, which actually got under my skin a bit... Glad to see I was wrong :-)

I'll close out this rather unusual exchange by saying that I have met and hung out with Gary, and while we might not see the world quite the same way I would never ever call him bitter or ignorant or dumb. I respect his opinions as well thought out, and if we were to spend some time at it I would hope and expect that we would each learn something one from another. That is the point of dialogue is it not?

you never got back to me on your argument against single payer

Just take it as a single issue, what do you think about it?

Yes or No,
Government Health Care Insurance, like Medicare, that we pay through our taxes: plus you can still buy all the private health care insurance you want!!!, and you don't have to change Doctors

Or only private Health Care Insurance for everyone under 65, like the Republican have demanded that it will be the only option for all Americans

I can only see it that "My Freedoms" are being taken away, My options are being obstructed by Republicans, why can't we have what we want, and you can have your system, that costs more,
Why Not?

Dr. F The present medical establishment is every bit of the robber baron trust's that Teddy Roosevelt broke up in the early 20th century. Single payer will not work as well as a model regulated like utilities, with subsidies for the poor, and a FERC equivalent to monitor and approve all pricing from cotton swabs, to medical procedures, to insurance rates.

absolutely NOT!!!!!

it was directed at the bitter, obsessed, non supported, factual liar, as "defended" by JohnE

incredible defense I will add

"bookworm"

who daily accuses the President of "hating" women

while HIS political party aggressively passed record number of the most anti-women legislation at the state level in the entire US history

yeah, JohnE, you go right ahead and "defend" the bitter little dumbfuk

you, who claims to know "more about financial speculation" than George Sorus, whose Quantum Fund makes tens of billions in pure speculative financial market trading

Will not work? Why?

That is your opinion.
The rest of world pays at least 60% less than we do, for better care, and everyone is covered.

Present your case; Why will it not work?

I say it will work, and I don't care what anyone thinks about it, I am pissed that you deny my rights to have access to single payer health care insurance.

That's a fact conveniently and universally ignored by Republicans and other conservatives. Unless they can clearly and logically explain why we in the United States are not smart enough, or capable enough to duplicate what has been done in every other industrialized country, I call BS.

"The rest of world pays at least 60% less than we do, for better care, and everyone is covered."

Actually fairly well established that we pay twice as much for half the coverage

Just another issue the next generation will look back on, and wonder why it took so long to vote the repub party out.
