regarding "death panels"

FACT: they exist right now in every private and public health insurance plan

example: I was told by my private health plan that they do not pay for "quality of life" and so will NOT pay for up to five more spine surgeries that I need

what they WILL pay for is steroid injections in my spine and narcotic pain pills

so my point is that the discussion about the "line" has been drawn, finely, a long time ago

every read, carefully, your healthcare policy?

it spells out very clearly what they will cover and what they will not, death panels indeed

If all we care for are ourself and all we put value in is our stuff then what then is the point of this whole sh#t show. Stuff is nothing to live for and if in the pursuit of protecting our own best interest and all our stupid stuff and we are willing to or able to forget about others and or trample over others to protect it what is the f*#king point of this beautiful life we have been gifted. If it is the stuff or looking out for number one and yes I translate that into the stuff category well then it does not seem much like a gift to me but a curse!

I am in no way suggesting you agree or disagree this is just what your post got me thinking..

The EPA set PM2.5 primary standards at 15 micrograms per cubic meter of air on an annual average basis, but the agency exposed test subjects to PM levels of 600 micrograms per cubic meter — 40 times what the EPA sets as an acceptable outdoor air standard.

But in five of the studies, people were subject to levels higher than what they signed on for. The EPA IG found that one person was hit with “pollutant concentrations that reached 751 [micrograms per cubic meter], which exceeded the IRB-approved concentration target of 600 [micrograms per cubic meter].”

The EPA says that when PM2.5 levels are between about 250 and 500 micrograms per cubic meter “[e]veryone should avoid any outdoor exertion. People with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children should remain indoors.”

No one was killed during the test, but a source close to the issue says that one test subject — a 58-year-old obese woman with medical problems and a family history of heart disease — was ordered to go to the hospital by the EPA after being exposed to “ambient air pollution particles” in October 2010.

Other test subjects also experienced health problems during their testing. One subject developed a persistent cough after being exposed to ozone for 15 minutes in April 2011 and two other subjects suffered from “cardiac arrhythmias” during testing in 2010 after being exposed to “clean air.”

TeaGeeTea is once again confused about just who he is upset with

in this case above, he should be mad at a Republican, NIxon, who championed and signed into law the EPA

because you know, having clean air to breathe is such a drag on profits...........

It's telling that so many responses are little more than "F*ck you! You suck! You're dumb!"

What's telling is that I've posted numerous data filled, sourced responses to you and you can't seem to muster anything approaching a response yet are so eager to complain about other people.

I was wrong about HermitMaster being SkipT.

Why would I say this?

Because I finally cracked the True identity of HermitMaster
and of course, knowing the true identity, it makes sense that accusing him/her of being SkipT would illicit No response,
this person would never respond to questions or accusations of any sort.

Just a Troll that would check in once in awhile and throw in some fire bombs about how he/she hates Obama and the libs.

and this person did know a lot about what was going on 2 years ago when LEb and SkipT were posting, but hasn't been seen Since!

In Fact!!!

His/Her last post as this person was "Romney is going to Win by a landslide" on Nov 1, 2012!!!!!

Indeed, for months California Democrats have had to deal with the fraud conviction of State Senator Roderick Wright. He was caught lying about his address so he could get elected in a certain district. He could face 8 years in prison. A month later, another Democrat Senator, Ronald Calderon, was indicted on serious public corruption charges.

You would think a responsible party would do all they could to distance themselves from such corrupt politicians. Despite Republican attempts to expel them from the Senate, however, on a party line vote Democrats blocked that effort.

Of course, the reason the Democrats did that was to protect their super-majority in the Senate, which allows them to pass tax legislation without a single Republican vote. In other words, having absolute power is more important to them than any semblance of integrity.

Then came along Democrat Senator Leland Yee from San Francisco. He has been indicted on charges that are almost too wild to fathom including attempting to facilitate arms sales to a terrorist group. The allegations read like a bad movie and perhaps some day there will be a movie. In the face of that horrific – and impossible to ignore – publicity, the Democrats finally took some action.

Faced with mounting pressure, the three corrupt State Senators were suspended. Of course, California being what it is – the three Senators will still be on the state payroll – because that is the law of the state.

It should be noted that when, State Senator Tony Strickland (now running for Congress) attempted to pass a law stripping state employees of their pensions if they commit a felony as party of their job, the majority Democrats blocked Strickland’s common sense bill. Three felonious senators later, however, the Democrats have decided they should undo the law allowing those Senators to keep their pay.

The fact remains, however, that the absence of significant scrutiny of the problems of this state – by the voters and major media alike – have made life far too comfortable for Democrats in the California legislature. Lord Acton wouldn’t be surprised. If California is to avoid getting worse, voters need to hold their officials accountable and understand just how badly one-party rule is serving them.

Here is a great breakdown of how poverty affects economic mobility and long term life outcomes. It even has pictures!

Some highlights:

Although there is essentially no observed class-based difference in the cognitive abilities of children in their first year of life, that ends quickly.

Little to no enrichment activities, cognitive abilities stunted by poverty-related stress, and years of falling behind does what you would think it does.

Poor kids who push through all of the stuff above and get through to college are still less likely to wind up on top than rich kids who never even got a college degree. Rich kids without college are 2.5x more likely to wind up in the richest fifth than poor kids with college.
