I'm on board Norton's plan.

At 36 I'm in it for the long haul. From the early nineties when I was a kid growing up till now I have seen things change I hoped would but never in my wildest dreams believed ever really would.

I got another 20 years of waiting in me for all the old conservative right wing nut jobs to die off.

Slow and steady wins the race.

It will happen fact!

High Traverse! Thanks for your very interesting post!

My wife was on COBRA insurance at about $900 / month.
It expired at the end of September last year.
Wonderful Aetna refused to issue her any insurance for several weeks. Finally in November she had worked out a "deal" for about $1200/month.
By this time, the effective date for Obamacare policies was a few weeks away so we rode it out with my wife uninsured.

She signed up through Covered California. Yes, it took a couple of efforts, largely because of our confusion about the limits for the tax credits. (God bless the USA tax law, no one else will)
About $600 per month and yes, she gets to keep her doctor.

Thanks for you terrific story and I'm glad that you and your wife were able to find affordable coverage. You misinterpreted my post I think. I was just saying that the ACA didn't prematurely end anyone's coverage.

Just a heads-up: Pandora's Promise, a documentary about nuclear energy as clean energy, is now showing on Netflix.

Hey Dems and Libs, are you pro-nuclear or anti-nuclear?

If the latter, I hope it's not just because the R- party is pro.

If you're anti-nuclear, aren't you then pro-fossil fuel bound?

Thought-provoking film. Watch it as a pick-me-up after House of Cards. :)

.....

For your enjoyment...

Hey Dems and Libs, are you pro-nuclear or anti-nuclear?

For one your pigeonholing us all as specifically affiliated with one party or group is a little weird. Also, how about being pro-nuclear until something better gets developed?

Must be hard negotiating the ever daunting false dilemmas the world is forever thwarting you with...

HFCS - How different would this country be if Carter's ideals had been implemented since his days in office?

I feel that America would be a vastly different place.

A place where energy was clean, and people were still prosperous...

But no... America is too arrogant to accept, and too ignorant to see another way when it is staring them in the face and is freely available to all....

I'm a democrat, but I remain very divided over nuclear.

While I tend to be a supporter of technology, I think we've been burned, repeatedly, on the nuclear front. The ongoing inability to deal with the waste is very troubling.

I feel like I trust the scientists, but NOT the engineers, and especially the managers of nuclear plants.

All things equal, I would tend to support a small amount of nuclear energy, because I think diversity of source is important. But it make me nervous, because the consequences of an accident are so huge.

And I'm convinced that in the case of an accident, the managers will lie to the public: the Japanese did it, the Russians did it, and the Americans did it. CYA transcends boundaries.

Philo! Re your previous post (poster): all that good news is true. However, if folks waste their time with Fox news: America is suffering horribly and Obama continues to take our nation down the toilet.

I haven't received any Republican comments on the favorable economic news I've posted on this thread the last couple of weeks.

The Republican agenda is to make Obama & the Democrats fail, by making America fail.

Their politics are: Simple------and sick, and un-American. I am very sad that many good people on this thread are able to overlook the fact that the current Republican priority is to make America & Americans suffer as much as possible, blame it on the Democrats, and then win the next election.

It all seems really dumb and self-defeating to me, but it apparently works for the collection of poor-white conservatives that the Republicans are currently exploiting.

Norton! Indeed I did. I was concentrating on putting some really good prose together, vs doing the Republican thing of copy & post.

I will correct my credit to you.

However! Doooode! You deserve some credit too! Thanks for all your great posts!

Fritz, point well made,
Why doesn't John E. seem to understand what's going on here, I guess his extreme partisanism blinds him, and every other kool aid drinker.
