It would be cool Tvash and I think that can happen if people deal with facts and not emotions.

It is going to be an uphill battle when you have people who believe this type of BS...http://crooksandliars.com/2014/03/missing-malaysian-jet-obamas-fault

Regarding the dynamic here - I'll bastardize a previous quote:

"Will your action make THE world a better or worse place? Will your action make YOUR world a better or worse place? If YOUR world becomes better at the expense of THE world - is there an alternative action available that will align the two?

Otherwise, yours and the worlds interests are at odds, and that cannot bode well for you over the long term.

it's all about Obama.

ok, news flash

I am going to say it

When people wake up every single day searching for and glomming onto every unreasonable reason to hate their own President......

it means they are racist fuks, because you just can't wake up and be that damn stupid

when every single lie and truth contortion has been proven wrong and they still persist

then, yes, it means they just can't stand a "half black" as ron said, man in the Presidency

it's time to call a duck a duck and quit beating around the bush

"they" deserve our contempt, every bit of it, every damn one of them

that means you, b!itches, you know who you are

Yes, there's a whole lotta bullsheeit out there, free for the clickin.

Here's a test I apply to myself when researching information:

1) Is my purpose to validate my already formed opinion or to become more informed?
3) Am I keeping my cognitive bias in check?
2) Is what I'm reading/viewing:

a) original content (data, studies, court decisions, interviews),
b) journalism (Primary intention: to inform objectively. An edited summary of original content fact checked and vetted to some standard of accuracy that determines the reputation of the publication/journalist.)
c) or opinion (Primary objective: to persuade subjectively. Pundits, guest 'experts', bloggers, letter to the editor, unprofessional 'journalists', etc. Fact checking and vetting varies from none to excellent).

Yes, all three contain some form of bias, but so often people choose (c) - the lowest quality of the three, for nearly all if not all of their information.

How about...

*Does it fit within my narrow view of the world?
*Is it from one of the sources that fit my narrow view of the world?
*Did I receive it in a forwarded email from a friend of mine who shares my narrow view of the world?

Truly, these are the criteria by which booky & Ron choose their media sources.

I wouldn't be so quick to place yourself above the fray. I don't see much of a difference in quality of stuff presented from where I sit.

Tvash like you many of us have tried to use polite, rational discussion and verifiable facts to present our cases. To no avail with the thick skulls though. So we have devolve into trivialities.
You were not here to experience the great LEB circus. If you had you would recognize the validity of what I am saying.
You are a breath of fresh logical air. But don't worry intellectual de-evolution is waiting for you too.

here you go, John E

surprised you are so damn blinded by your partisan hate and bias you can't "google"

http://www.policymic.com/articles/22662/5-ways-obama-tries-to-work-with-republicans-and-is-rejected

quick John, point out its only one source!

http://blogs.ajc.com/cynthia-tucker/2010/10/15/obama-tried-too-hard-to-work-with-republicans/

ok, "counselor", call them "liars" or make some denigrating crap about the "source"

horses's ass

I agree that in foreign policy matters, the administration has acted with support -- and acted to gain the support -- of both Democrats and Republicans. In contrast, inviting Republicans to the White House to announce that he will not compromise does not constitute "reaching out."

And once again, we find a somewhat covert (but welcome) two-year extension of part of the individual mandate deadline. If Obama and Reid had more interest in the welfare of the country and less in partisan advantage, they should have been able to craft a compromise during the shutdown that simply delayed implementation, but my partisan blindness doubtless clouds my perspective.

And John M., Bush successfully obtained legislative results with both political parties in lowering taxes, enacting a prescription drug benefit, and passing No Child Left Behind. These may or may not have been the wisest congressional enactments, but they demonstrate an ability to work with his opponents -- that he had demonstrated often as governor of Texas. But, of course, we all know that the level of congressional opposition to the current administration is "unprecedented."

And speaking of Tvash, we really should listen to his advice on advocacy. Insulting usually assures that most people won't read your posts. Having said that Tvash, it seems that the current administration represents a reincarnation of the Andrew Jackson who said "The Supreme Court has made its ruling. Now let them enforce it."

However, Ron is a more-than-adequate replacement. You get the idea.

Funny..Tvash is new to this thread. Facts are a like water off a duck back to some posters here. They just want to hate. really sad when you think about it. It is all they have left, their world is changing and they just can't stand that fact.

Having experienced the "LEB Circus," I have yet to understand the level of hatred for her, except that it constituted a hatred of someone for holding opposing views.

We use the word "hate" with rather cavalier abandon on this forum. I hope we don't really hate the way we purport to hate.

WRONG! It was like dealing with someone who insists the world is 6000 years old even when repeatedly shown core samples of bristlecone pines that are older than that.
LEB was deliberately thick headed about facts but her own opinions were rife with inaccuracies and out right lies. Oh, but she was polite and all nicey nice so it didn't matter what BS she drooled out of her burbling O-ring did it?
But we "libtards" are so mean and inconsiderate so nothing we say has merit right?
LEB took down many reasonable and patient posters with her willful ignorance.
She was a blight plain and simple.

The reason Bush did get those passed was because DEMOCRATS where willing to reach out to him, REPUBLICANS are not willing to reach out to this president as your own statement proves.

JohnE, based on your opinion that Bush was able to get legislations passed, that this meant he was able to reach across the aisle, then since Obamacare has passed, that must be proof that Obama has reached across the aisle. Theres your proof. Thank you for providing it.

As for Lois, the reason she pissed me off so much was that one would spend 3 months educating her on something, finally get her to understand something simple, like say.. Iraq had nothing to do with 911, and then two weeks later she would be back to saying Iraq had something to do with 911 and it would take another 3 months to try and get her to wake up. Plus she has this incredible knack for dominating a conversation. People would say that all you had to do was ignore her, but then you couldn't follow the conversation because 5 other people would be responding to her. Plus like Ron, she would say things like, oh I never attack people first, never mind all the sneering comments she would make. Then I would find it incredible that someone like you JohnE, wouldn't even notice how condescending she could be until it was pointed out you.

Ya know, if someone wants to hold just plain wrong views with hardheaded, closed-minded insistence, and willfully remain ignorant to facts or any other view, they certainly have a right to do this in this fine country of ours.

They should not be surprised, though, when they become the target of ridicule from others who just can't find the tolerance for their ignorance. That's just the way the world works.

I found Lois (DMT?) to be tolerable at least to the extent of her general demeanor with others, in spite of regular excoriations from every direction (Ron used to be pretty good in this regard, too).

My biggest issue with Lois was that her incredible, apparently narcissistic need to post on waaaaaaay too many threads, and effectively blot out many of the other on-topic threads due to her persistent yammering & resultant bumping. This characteristic she shares wholeheartedly with Ron....except for the fact she never pulled any underhanded, backstabbing maneuvers on anyone.

John...can you please show me where republicans in the house have reached out to this president?

Please...I'll be waiting.

This current house is being held hostage by whack job republicans filled with anger and hate for this president.

Who in the hell yells out "you lie" when the POTUS is giving a speech. Total disrespect for the office and the man.
