This site seems to be very lightly moderated, as befits its non-censorship minded founders, most likely. The f*#k sh#t bleep being an exception, perhaps.

Most, if not all, other climbing sites are more heavily moderated. In the end, participants can choose which pond they want to swim in.

This site has its charms. It has a national and global reach, even with its strong CA focus.

As with any site, the question at the end of the day is - did you make any friends?

One species that lives on every site - the spelling cop. Somebody's gotta live in the basement level of petty, I reckon.

Wrong
Liberal is defined by Open mindedness, tolerant and non-militant

Conservatives are defined as Closed Minded
(with rods firmly in place), intolerant with a militant state of mind

Why are you guys always 100% backwards with your descritptions?
Must be a Conservative trait to Project everything you hate about yourself.

Thanks for illustrating my point.

And you don't even realize it.

Too funny.

Well, I wouldn't wanna break up a good cat fight.

I've got the skin of a leatherback, so i'm probably not the right person to ask, but I will observe that the terms 'bullying' and 'hate speech', in addition to 'pedophiliac Nazi', are a tad bit overused on the inner nuts. Oh, and "psychopath". Forgot that one.

Real hate speech is serious business - its burning a cross on a black family's front lawn, or calling for a lynching. Its not a white guy on keyboard pissed off because some other white guy on a keyboard called his pet political party stoopit.

If you find yourself furiously hammering these terms into your keyboard, you may want to take a look in the mirror and ask yourself "Am I ridiculous?" Or ask yourself why you continue to participate in the thread at all. If it's to meet out justice - there are more effective avenues for that.

I will note that a larger percentage of top tier climbers do seem to be on the liberal side, although few seem to be partisan animals.

Not judging, just observing.

The mechanism may be similar to why so few scientists believe in God. Inherent personality traits guide the person to choose a belief system - as well as a pastime.

As there are few conservative top tier climbers, there are also probably few liberals shooting moose from monster trucks.

Climbing rewards a mind that is open to establishing a close relationship with a broad variety of terrains and environments on the fly. This can be especially challenging when high as a mutherfukin kite.

Your monster truck, in contrast, is set up just the way you want it: Four Loko holder - check. Truck Nutz - check. Evil Calvin Pissing rear window sticker - check. It's like a second trailer home. Everything about it is familiar.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, and my anecdotal data may well be in error, but suffice to say that at any given day in the Valley, you'd need to swing an awfully long dead cat to hit an accomplished conservative climber.

You'd better hope you don't hit his monster truck in the process.

I'm not sure how my climber/monster truck theses would stand up to peer review. I'm thinking of submitting to Journal of Bovine Gastronomy to find out.

There is really only one Conservative On ST that is an accomplished climber
Kris Solem

The other accomplished climbers that claim to be conservatives really don't know the meaning of the term as it relates to personality AND Politics, like Coz

How astute of you. That explains why The Post endorsed Obama in 2008 and again in 2012.

How obtuse of you. Only to conservatives does endorse mean to pledge unquestioning fealty. "We like this guy better than the other guy" is a far cry from "this man is perfect."

The NYT and WaPo criticize Obama all the time and have since he was a candidate but yet every couple months along comes some moron with a "even the xxxx has lost confidence in him" and links some opinion piece with a nuanced critique of a certain policy or tactic. So dumb.

I voted for President Obama KNOWING he was a 'liberal neocon' and not all that far removed from President Bush.

The alternatives were appalling.

I criticize President Obama, not that its worth anything. :)

But given those same alternatives?

Lol! I'd vote for him every time!

You Republicans would do well to shake off teabagger shackles, get up off your knees, and start acting like the selfish old men you are!

Are you men or mice?

Lol. Cruzmen.

You say I'm obtuse and then make criticisms that have nothing to do with my post.

Is this an example of the Dunning–Kruger effect?
