Ron could you give us a link to this? Not sure what you refer to. That said,
Actually that is pretty interesting. Suppose the US were "in charge" of human rights. We don't have much power to penalize offenders. So being in charge has little real effect.
On the other hand putting Iraq "in charge" means Iraq will have to cooperate with many countries interested in the matter and they will receive a lot of input. And a lot of exposure.
An interesting idea. Creative even.

UN recognizes Palestine as a "non-member observer state":
That is big
and it once again proves that Republicans are wrong about everything
since they were the pressure on America for voting against it.

I agree ,,ALL terrorist states should be UN sanctioned.. It brings them closer to US -- creative ya know..;-) Lordy knows the PLO and Hamas have proven to be just wanting their chunk o the globe and are quite peaceful in nature..Letting them have votes on things that could affect us here makes very good sense- in that abstract creative kinda way. Too bad the USA voted against it..
edit: jstan, that was proposed for the UN treaty meeting pre election...

careful Ron, the US is blowing up people in countries around the world where we haven't declared war and killing civilians in the process, maybe we're a terrorist state too!
Now on the domestic front.
Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein came to Capitol Hill this week to call for cuts in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. As Congress and the White House are negotiating a year-end deficit deal, Blankfein blustered about the need to “lower people’s expectations” about their retirement and health care. He was loose with his facts. He spoke with all the sympathy for someone struggling to get by on a $14,000-a-year retirement that you’d expect from a Wall Street banker paid $16 million last year. To Bernie, Blankfein’s attack on working families is obscene. “Think about the arrogance of these guys on Wall Street who were bailed out by the middle class of this country when their greed and recklessness nearly destroyed the financial system, and now they come to Capitol Hill to lecture Congress and the American people about the need to cut programs for working families,” Bernie said. “This is what class warfare is all about.”

The US is so on the wrong side of the Palestinian issue. But AIPAC holds sway so young Americans keep dying in the region for Israel obfuscations which attempt to hide the obvious - they do not want peace and will never settle. Bravo to the Palestinians calling bullshit on the charade that has been the 'peace process'.
Voting "no" Thursday were Israel, the United States and Canada, joined by the Czech Republic, Panama and several Pacific island nations: Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru and Palau. The Pacific nations typically support the U.S. and Israel at the U.N. on key General Assembly resolutions.
All the votes money can buy, i.e. it was the entire world against the US and Israel. Cluelss - either get right on the issue, move them all to Texas, or make them a US state so the true relationship is clear.

At this moment, Republicans in Congress need to examine which presents a more dire threat to the country:
A) A double-dip recession driven by the sequester and the expiration of the Bush tax cuts, or
B) the public’s belief (verified through polling) that our giant debt, our ticking time bomb of entitlements, and our gargantuan government can be solved by “asking the richest Americans to pay a little bit more,” as Obama insists.
Option A is terrible, but Option B is the giant locked door blocking all of the real solutions.
So if we must have tax hikes, let the tax cuts for every income level expire and let everyone of every income level pay higher taxes. Destroy the illusion among so many voters that they can get all the government they want without paying more in taxes.
time to bite the bullet.

You'd be great at it Ron, you could apply squirrel fur on yourself and look just like a squirrel. Then all you'd need was a brain as large as a squirrel so you could be as smart as one.
Sorry Ron, you left it wide open.

It's much easier to just starve and die in TGT's gutter

TGT asked: Why work?
Damn good question, TGT. Why work indeed? Whatever you earn will just be stolen by a bunch of Wall Street vultures in the end.
F*#king bastards, I'm pissed! I spent 15 years in the baking business. Worked hard every day of it, but in the end it was worth it to get a secure pension. So I thought. The judge just gave the parasites that have been running Hostess a $1.75 million bonus. Meanwhile, they've been reneging on their payments to the pension trust for a year or more. That $1.75 million they are getting is coming partly out of my pocket.
And you know who else is getting screwed over by Hostess? Jack Lewis. He and his brothers started Lewis Brothers Baking in a log cabin in Illinois. No kidding. They built it up to 5 bakeries operating in 3 states in the midwest. Unionized bakeries. Despite not being a Harvard MBA, he's managed to run his business quite profitably all while not screwing over his employees and his community.
Hostess is screwing him, too. Since they stopped paying into the union and industry pension fund, Jack Lewis, and the other baking companies, will see their contributions increase 5 - 10%.
One night, many years ago, in the '70s, Jack dropped by the bakery one night to see how things were going. While he was there, something, I don't remember what, went wrong. All hell broke loose on the line.
Hot pans were coming out of the oven, and with the line stopped they had to be taken off and stacked. Now stacking hot pans is the nastiest job in any bakery. If they don't like you, and want to get rid of you, they put you stacking hot pans hoping you'll quit. (I spent a lot of time stacking hot pans.)
Jack Lewis, the founder and owner of the company, jumped in and started stacking pans, because it needed to be done. You're happy to bust your balls for a guy like that.
Do you think one of the Wall Street suits running Hostess would have done that?
F*#king bastards. I'm so mad I could spit.

err.. So you want children to work and people over 65 to go back to work?
http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html
23.7 percent of Americans are under 18 years of age
13.3 percent are over 65 years of age
= 37 percent.
15 percent of Americans live below the poverty line.
The wealthy are wealthier then they have ever been and pay a lower tax rate then they did during the golden age of the 50s, but you are worried about them and you want children and the retired to start paying more.
Good grief Ron.. sorry your business is going under. I guess there aren't enough wealthy hunters anymore.
Oh.. and by the way.. that number that you use to imply that 50 percent of Americans pay nothing to support our systems is bogus. They pay sales tax, social security tax if they work, property tax if they rent or own land. Gas tax, and all sorts of other fees and taxes. So no.. you aren't supporting 50 percent of the nation if you work.

You wonder what squirrels may be saying to each other. Here we are climbing trees till we drop every day to find food, and this damn Anderson guy who could be doing something productive what's he doing? He is taking our bodies, ignoring our rights to privacy among other things, and stuffing us as a form of amusement. We think he ought to bloody well go out and get a real job that does not exploit hard working animals.
