One of the real problems that the Republicans have had to shoulder is the ultra fringe crazy element.
On the sane end of the fringe is a turd like Limbaugh, who blames liberals for everything even when they are not in power. He yells and complains constantly and never changes his message, but I haven't heard any UFO stories from him yet.
Glen Beck, on the other hand is full blown nutso. Beck is also popular and influential, at least to the point of getting invited to one of the Koch Brothers' private shindigs along with Supreme Court justices Scalia and Thomas (no lie. look it up).
Beck has been pushing this tinfoil conspiracy thing called "Agenda 51."
It has something to do with how Obama is letting the U.N. implement a cold war mind control program to turn us all into marxist/maoist slaves.
Now this would all be funny and all if the Georgia state senate majority leader hadn't held a 4 hour closed session meeting on how this was actually going on and how to meet the blue beenie's at the border or something. It was secretly taped until the guy taping it was caught and tossed, and finally it got so embarrasing that the Senate Majority Leader had to quit over the whole shebang.
No lie. Mother Jones and Huffington Post were tipped off, but it was all too true. We live in weird times man. You can't make stuff this good up:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/15/agenda-21-georgia-chip-rogers_n_2140438.html
If U.N. troops are coming to take us over, given their history of carrying unloaded guns and consisting of begrudgingly loaned troops from other nations, I would say that Piton Ron and Minerals could hold them off before they hit the beach.
We all know Glen Beck is a nut. He is really sucked into this whole U.N. conspiracy theory:
http://www.glennbeck.com/2011/06/15/heard-on-tv-agenda-21/
Seriously. This kind of stuff really makes it hard for me to snuggle up next to all but my closest Republican Friends. It is embarrasing.

That is exactly why the Republicans have become a Joke around the thinking world
Because they let people like Rush, Glenn Beck and Fox news run their Party.
If they would curb them, and make them accountable, then we could discuss reality
But as long as the Right Wing State Media is in power over the minds of the Republicans and conservatives, then they will be at war with America
at war with Straw men, and creating a huge divide between them as the right wing followers, against the rest of the world.

Sadly it is so. The Party should run from those jerks. They make the whole bunch smell like air breaks on a buzzard's ass.
I have voted for a fair number of Republicans over the years, but not lately. The lowest common denominator now runs the party.
That is a shame, really. Somewhere along the line they were forced to start climbing over each other to show who is the farthest to the right.
I'm old enough to remember William F. Buckley, Jr. If he were still alive, he would bitch slap the smart ones back to life and send the fluff to the garbage bin. By fluff I mean people like Bachmann, who was constantly on all TV channels two years ago. Two years later and she barely got re-elected.
Really. How proud you must be to have Michelle Bachmann as your congresswoman. Or Glen Beck as your civics teacher.
Beck is different than the others. He actually believes this stuff. He is still on the radio in the morning and I try to catch him when I have to drive to a morning meeting. He is far crazier on radio than he ever was on TV. Really. He was too nuts for Fox News. I can't think of anyone on the left who is that nuts right now.

I heard something about Obama wanting to "sit down with Mitt" to go over ideas….
I say "President Obama….? We voted 'No' to Rombley and 'Yes' to Obama!!!"
Let Rambley fade into the twilight of that pointless, however profitable, life.

Dr. F and Herndie, we really need to get together. You guys are blowing it and are all over the place. Will you please stop being so driven in your idealistic and foolish support of the as yet unfulfilled promise that lies beyond the Dictatorship of the Proletariat!!!!
The problem is and always will be that the nasty f*#kers don't like to relinquish power or position. And of course, it's all for the general good of the clammering rabble. %L$O@L#

WTF?
you lost, you were wrong, and are still wrong
I haven't seen you post anything that was even close to being reasonable
Dictatorship? Obama??
The only dictators are the Republicans, like Bush, and it was OK for him to bankrupt the Nation, invade Countries on lies, torture, wiretap, and any other Unconstitutional thing he wanted
He was the Terrorist, having Level Red security Alerts before every election, with him telling us that Bin Laden is going to kill your children
The difference between Obama and Bush is like FDR and Hitler, IMO

If you've not, you should read or listen to David Brooks, who WF Buckley thought of as his successor. Amazingly reasonable.

I think that doing that with a severe opponent is not neccessarily following a path of working with the opposition.
I'll note that he did NOT do that with Hilary, and that's worked out pretty well.
It would drive the whackos crazy to have Romney as the new Sec of Business, and make it awfully hard to attack Obama's willingness to reach a hand out.....as voters of both sides want.
However, his recent comments would probably rule that out.

I'm curious what Petraeus' testimony will have. Repubs are already attacking him. It looks like they want to make sure he won't be a candidate down the road.
an incredible mistake.

Brooks is affable enough, but not remotely in the same league as Buckley was. Bummer he passed away, though the republican party was already distancing itself from him as too moderate for their future.

John McCain was too busy bitching to reporters about not getting enough information on Benghazi to go to the classified senate hearing on Benghazi.
Priceless.
Over the past few days we've heard just how upset John McCain has been about Susan Rice's maybe-nomination because of how she handled the terror attacks in Benghazi and the lack of information he's been given regarding those attacks. He was so busy doing that, that he missed a classified Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs hearing yesterday. Oops.

. to paraphrase Bill Maher on the Petraeus drama...
A Republican general has an affair with a Republican biographer who sends threatening emails to a Republican socialite who calls her Republican friend in the FBI who notifies Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor ....
Obama's fault.
Republitards....
And MCcain is demented.....
You would have to be an idiot to vote for or listen to this guy.

who notifies Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor ....
who held back on releasing it to the public
Yet the Republicans blame Obama for using it for Political gain
Looks like failure at the Highest Levels in the Republican Party, and Obama was just letting them eat their own, which is so easy these days
