The last time repubs sidetracked the nation with a little issue blown all out of proportion was the whole Lewinski affair. They managed to prove Bill Clinton lied about having sex with an intern after spending millions and millions of taxpayers' money, making the US the laughingstock of the rest of the civilized world, and distracting the population, media and government from all the important things they should be doing.

Probably the most important thing happening while republicans forced the nation to be obsessed over sex between two consenting adults was the infiltration of the 9/11 perpetrators.

What is the big deal over Benghazi? Any idiot can see that it is just a way, any way, to toss crap onto Obama.

I heard Limbaugh say that Obama's is the most corrupt administration ever.

How stupid are you people? Have you ever looked up how many of Reagan's cabinet members were indicted? The only thing that kept Reagan from impeachment was his lack of memory excuse.

There used to be a law where congress could appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate the Executive Branch, free from any taint from Congress or the President.

It was a good law. Most famously, it brought Nixon down.

Reagan got his goose cooked over the Iran-Contra affair.

Daddy Bush pardoned all of Reagan's cabinet members who were under indictment when he came into office, similar to President Ford pardoning Nixon upon taking office.

Daddy Bush would never be described as a Republican now. He signed an immigration bill, controlled certain important guns, and re-authorized the Clean Air act.

When Clinton was elected, the right fell into a now familiar strategy: They kept him under more or less permanent investigation, beginning with the Whitewater land deal, which ended up being nothing. There were crazy allegations that he had his own secret landing strip in Arkansas to import drugs, that he had many people killed, you name it. It went on for his entire presidency until he finally slipped up over the Monica Lewinski scandal. Now I would have lied about that as well, but how could a guy that intelligent; a Rhodes Scholar, be that stupid?

Anyway, congress decided to let the Special Prosecutor law expire after Clinton. Neither side wanted it any more. W Bush would have never survived 8 years of a special prosecutor. He was up to his ears in bad sh#t.

This Benghazi thing is a pitiful example of pounding your opponent in order to try to make something stick. Compared to previous presidents, it is nothing. I bet none of you are old enough, or if you are, you don't remember, all of the stuff that Reagan was up to, and Reagan is now a beloved figure.

Today, Reagan and Daddy Bush would have never been nominated. They did things like increase spending on education and raise taxes when needed.

All politics is today is a bunch of slogans and elbowing at the trough. Kind of full circle. Who would even WANT to be president with the congress we have had for the past twenty years?

Oh, Clinton was an idiot. I said that quite plainly above.

The fact remains that Ken Star went from topic to topic to topic in an effort to crush Clinton. In the end it was a sex scandal that Clinton lied about under oath.

He is regarded as one of the best presidents in my lifetime. Unlike Obama, he figured out very quickly that he would have to work with the Republican congress, and together they accomplished a lot. They ended welfare, which pissed off liberals to no end. Clinton was very centrist.

That was a good time to be in business, I can assure you of that.

W and Cheney are both globally despised characters. Together they bankrupted the economy, destroyed our national character among other nations, and we are still cleaning up their mess.

We will be cleaning up the Bush/Cheney foreign policy mess for the next 100 years.

Nixon was impeached for lying about a break in. Unless you think he actually voluntarily resigned..(under threat of impeachment)

But now its, "well since everyone before has pulled the crap its acceptable so lets roll with it"..

If there were no problems in Benghazi, (which you all gave me crap about on day 1 when i told you so), then why did Hillary step down taking the fall- just like i also told you would happen- back when you guys said there wasnt anything to have her "fall" for.

Defense Secretary and CARTOONS!

Robert Gates Criticizes Conservatives' "Cartoonish Impression" Of Military Support For Benghazi

Robert Gates is calling out conservatives for the "cartoonish impression of the military" they promote when baselessly criticizing the Obama administration for not sending additional support during the September attack on diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya.

Right-wing media have often criticized the administration for what Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan termed their decision to "do nothing" in the face of the attack, with some suggesting that by failing to send additional troops or fighter jets to respond, President Obama had deliberately "sacrificed Americans" as a "political calculation."

But Gates, who served as Secretary of Defense during the Bush and Obama administrations, debunked these claims and explained that he would have made the same decisions, during his May 12 interview on CBS' Face the Nation.

Gates explained that he "would never have approved sending an aircraft" due to fears it would get shot down, and that he would not have approved sending Special Forces due to a lack of information about what was happening on the ground:

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In what may be the most serious allegation ever made against the former Secretary of State, Fox News Channel reported today that Hillary Clinton was involved in the conspiracy to murder President Abraham Lincoln.

The latest charge against Mrs. Clinton was reported by Fox host Sean Hannity, who said that the evidence of her role in the Lincoln assassination came mainly in the form of e-mails.

According to Mr. Hannity, “If it’s true that Hillary Clinton killed Lincoln, this could have a major impact on her chances in 2016.”

The accusation against Mrs. Clinton drew a strong response from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R.—S. Carolina): “There’s been a concerted effort by Hillary Clinton to cover up her role in President Lincoln’s murder. She has said nothing about it. This is bigger than Watergate, the Cuban missile crisis, and the Second World War put together.”

Responding to the allegation, Mrs. Clinton issued a terse statement indicating that she could not have participated in Lincoln’s assassination because she was born in 1947.

“That’s what she wants us to believe,” Sen. Graham said.

Why are republitards such dickheads all the time?

Anytime I hear a dickhead republitard talking about making things better for the common man, this will be rolling through my mind making it impossible to think of a republitard as anything but a total hypocrite.

Now They Want to Take Away the 8-Hour Day and 40-Hour Week
House Republicans are pushing a bill that takes away extra pay for overtime, substituting "comp" time instead.

Republicans are trying to pass an "alternative" to overtime pay. This is really about taking away the eight-hour workday and 40-hour workweek. Will weekends be next? What about an "alternative" to paying workers at all?

House Republicans are pushing a bill that takes away extra pay for overtime, substituting "comp" time instead. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938 is the law that brought us the eight-hour workday and the 40-hour workweek. This law does not prohibit employers from requiring workers to work over 40 hours. Instead, it gives employers an incentive to instead pay extra or hire more people, and gives employees a premium if they do have to work longer. (Note that this is also the law that brought us a minimum wage and outlawed child labor.)

There is proof that overtime pay works: workers like domestic workers and agricultural workers - jobs not covered by the FLSA - are twice as likely to have to work more than 40 hours in a week. And even with this law, Americans already work more hours than in almost any other industrialized country.

The Bill - No Guarantees

The House will be voting on H.R. 1406, The Working Families Flexibility Act, which lets employers offer "comp time" instead of overtime pay. The problem is that employers will pressure workers to take comp time instead of overtime, which reduces paychecks and gets rid of the incentive to hire more people. Later, the employees will be pressured to not take that comp time, or will have to be "on call," etcetera.

It is important to note that the law does not guarantee workers the right to actually use the comp time they get instead of extra pay. Employers can put it off forever. You can't use this time when you want to, only when the employer decides it is okay.

This really is a flat-out pay take-away, can't use it another day.

Eileen Appelbaum of the Center for Economic and Policy Research drives this point home in her article " Working Families Flexibility Act: Not Good for Working Parents and Bad for the Economy," on The Huffington Post:

Employees cannot just take comp time when they need it. Rather, the bill lets an employer who receives a request for comp time decide when the employee gets to take it. The employer can even refuse the request and defer it to a later time if, in the employer's view, letting the employee take comp time will "unduly disrupt the operations of the employer."

Overtime Helps the Economy

We have a jobs emergency and Republicans are trying to get rid of one of the laws that causes employers to hire more people. Go figure. When employers require workers to work more than eight hours in a day or 40 hours in a week, they have to pay more than the regular wage for that extra time. This is a strong incentive to hire more people instead.

And when they don't hire more people, they pay a premium, which means regular people have more money to spend. Either way, it helps the economy. And of course, it really, really helps those workers.

Last year, USA Today took a look at overtime pay and found that productivity was rising, but as a result of squeezing workers for more hours. But employers were calling these workers "managers" to get out of paying overtime - and to get out of hiring more people.
