That's it
Now I know you're retarded

we never had 60 Democrats, and the Republicans filibustered everything, like the jobs bills, the veterans jobs bills, the public option that would have reduced insurance costs and so on

I ask, Why didn't the Veterans Jobs bill get approved?
answer this One question, please

Ron, do you remember Bobby "Kenneth the Page" Jindal? The current Gov of Lousiana, if that helps jog your memory.

Yeah, well, maybe you remember him giving the GOP reply to the SOTU speech a few years ago. The one where he mocked govt waste on "something called volcano monitoring".

Hahahaha!! Volcano monitoring. How f*#king dumb is that? What a waste of money...except that six weeks later a big ass eruption of Mt Redoubt went off in Alaska, with potential to threaten Anchorage. In '89 Redoubt blew and the ash cloud almost took down a KLM passenger jet. They dropped 10,000 ft when the engines choked on the ash and were very luck to get them restarted and land.

St Helens is quite close to Portland. I saw it basically everyday that I lived there. It killed 57 in the 1980 eruption and was actively venting and erupting in 2004.

What a waste. Silly bureaucrats. And those geneticists, studing fruit flies. FRUIT FLIES!!! Hahahaha, what a waste, how could we possibly benenfit from studying flies?

It's like you guys are PROUD of being dumber than a box of hammers. Pride in Ignorance, it's the right wing way.

We had a majority yes, but you need 60 votes to override a filibuster
There were never 60 Dems, nor enough Repubs that would cross over to do the right thing, since they vote in lockstep.

60 is more than a majority out of 100, correct?
wiki is correct, but the interpretation of yours is WRONG

The Veterans Jobs bill was filibustered by the Republicans, so in other words, the Republicans said Veterans can go F themselves.
it had nothing to do with Pork, moron

The Dems were fighting to provide jobs for veterans,
can you see the difference?

Bueller, any one?

ElCap,, as a former fed employee, i do realize the importance of seeminlgy stupid studies, as i was involved in some myself. HOWEVER, in these times , that money SHOULD go elsewhere.

Like in Veterans pockets for one! And Doc, you also know the very POOR timing of that introduced legislation and the fact it had no chance due to the timing right?

From the original intro:
Democratic lawmakers turned to the legislation shortly before they'll adjourn for the finals weeks of this year's election campaigns. The bill had little chance of passing the House this Congress, but it still allowed senators to appeal to a key voting bloc.

edit: BS it didnt have anything to do with Pork,, like the CCC ideas that have alredy been implemented and results arent clear yet..

Yes, bad timing, the Republicans didn't want to provide jobs to the Veterans because their rabid base would come unglued if they were seen working for the good of the Nation alongside Obama

But Still, It was filibustered, Correct??????????

the Dems never had 60 votes, correct????????????

so the Dems can't get anything through, correct???????????/

So it's Republicans fault for not allowing anything to help pay down the debt, create jobs, or improve our economy. correct??????/

Both sides do what???

I just proved they are not the same
One wants jobs, the other is voting so there will be no jobs

how can that be the same?

Yes the problem is elections, the stupid people vote for Republicans and libertarians.

Both sides STALL like a hang glider in a 100 mph head wind, as they clamour for votes, money and support. The legislations introduced during those times are NOTHING but vote garnishing techniques and an insult to the American folks as a whole. The monkeys must throw their poo at the right times ya know..

edit: Lets talk PIGS! They have unusual penises too! And WHY do some mamalia actually have penis BONES? Give me 1.5 mil, and ill study the crap out of this the rest of my life! I feel its helping the American folks- the least i can do...Ill even hire a couple of Berkley grads to assist!

Obama Proposes Increases to Veterans Programs:

Watch the House Republicans say no and piss on our VETS:

WASHINGTON -- Despite growing pressure for budget cuts, the Obama administration will propose a $63.5 billion increase for veterans next week, asking for a 4 percent increase over current spending.

The money is targeted at eliminating the backlog of veterans claims for benefits and increasing mental health services, including treatment for military sexual trauma. The budget proposal, which will not be officially unveiled until next week, also will make permanent two tax credits to encourage employers to hire veterans.

If enacted, the measures would boost the discretionary spending of the Department of Veterans Affairs from just under $100 billion in 2009 to $203.8 billion in fiscal year 2014, VA Secretary Eric Shinseki told reporters at the White House Friday. That's roughly half of what the VA spends each year, Shinseki said, and doesn't count mandated programs and benefits.

well Ron, what I posted is the President's increased money budget for VETS

We will have to wait a while to see if the Republican controlled House agrees or slashes funding as they are now doing to all Federal agencies as part of their anti government vendetta.

yes, I am sure your personal Nevada guys is a good guy, you found one, but we are talking about likely hood of enough Republicans in congress to support the VETS, doubtful.

So 2 Republican Senators are willing to vote against the Leaders of the Republican Party
What does that give us? 56 votes, 58, not even, some Dems are what we call Blue Dogs, they take the same money as the Republicans, and will vote With them. Have you ever heard of them, it's important info to know, since it means that it is Extra hard to get 60 votes!

Which equals No jobs for Veterans or regular people that need a Job

so what is the answer rong? vote for more Republicans??
Just to make sure you can push their minority up to 49!!!!
so they can make sure that there will never be a jobs program for veterans
Is that your desire?

UN's Top Human Rights Official, Calls For Guantanamo Closing In Wake Of Hunger Strikes

04/05/13 02:56 PM ET EDT

GENEVA -- The United Nations' top human rights official pressed the U.S. on Friday to close the Guantanamo Bay prison, strongly criticizing the indefinite detention of inmates at the facility.

President Barack Obama pledged to shutter the prison soon after taking office, but the Republican Congress opposed it, passing a law that prohibits the government from transferring Guantanamo prisoners to U.S. soil and requiring security guarantees before they can be sent elsewhere.

Navi Pillay, the U.N. high commissioner for human rights, said she is "deeply disappointed" Washington hasn't closed the facility. She urged all branches of the government to work together to shut it.

Pillay, who has long urged Guantanamo's closure, said in a statement that "the continuing indefinite incarceration of many of the detainees amounts to arbitrary detention and is in clear breach of international law."

She welcomed a recent White House statement that the Obama administration remains committed to closing the facility.

"Nevertheless, this systemic abuse of individuals' human rights continues year after year," Pillay said. "We must be clear about this: the United States is in clear breach not just of its own commitments, but also of international laws and standards that it is obliged to uphold. When other countries breach these standards, the U.S. – quite rightly – strongly criticizes them for it."

Pillay said of a hunger strike currently being staged by detainees that "given the uncertainty and anxieties surrounding their prolonged and apparently indefinite detention in Guantanamo, it is scarcely surprising that people's frustrations boil over and they resort to such desperate measures."

Well here is what the Great One has done.....and yet we still hear oh they are different, sure fella keep telling yourself this hui is not a bunch of reprobates just like the last one.

March 7, 2011: President Obama signs another executive order, this one focussed on creating a review process for detainees. The goal is to "establish, as a discretionary matter, a process to review on a periodic basis the executive branch's continued, discretionary exercise of existing detention authority in individual cases." In the same breath, he re-institutes military tribunals for detainees.

April 23, 2011: The plan to prosecute September 11th mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed in federal court falls apart, with Attorney General Eric Holder informing the president that KSM would be returned to Guantánamo Bay for trial. A report in The Washington Post claims this move will "mark the effective abandonment of the president's promise to close the military detention center."

Septemberg 29, 2012: The last westerner held at Guantánamo, Omar Khadr, is sent back to Canada after serving eight years for murder in violation of the law of war and other charges.

January 28, 2013: The State Department shuts down the office of the envoy for closing the prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.
