VM

Now you have your own appreciation thread.

Since I have roots from the same area love pierogies which are hard to find here so best to make them yourself. Borscht with beets is another. Fairfax area of Los Angeles "Canters" and one in Studio City, North of Hollywood makes it great. Salted Haddock is real hard to find but San Francsico has some to find.

"How about you f*#k off, I f*#k off, and everyone lives happily ever after? I do not need a thread, or anything else. Feel like forum whore for wasting my time on this garbage already'

"Feel like forum whore for wasting my time on this garbage already' good thinking.

Now you have a reason to get off and go back to summit. Doubt that we will hear the last of this? Yes! you are wasting my time, go climbling.

Hey, I have roots in the Ukraine too!

VM, what's your favorite area? Yosemite is hard to beat for me, but there are so many....

Do you climb big walls, or prefer short and free?

Just for balance: Quit calling everybody 60 yrs old. We're not all there yet, and you will be soon enough....

I am also part Ukraine.

I love pierogies with saurkraut or cheese n potato with a dab of sour creeme

also borsh beet soup with a dab of sour creeme .

Everone deserves to be heard, its more about how well they listen.

Its easy to get caught up in a tussle when you first arrive here-
no not US of A but SUPERTOPO

This place is so unique and diverse it is actually quite complicated sometime.

Always great and Always entertaining.

I hope VM can add what he has to here, and we could use more interesting trip reports.

I think he is a good guy and will be able to fit in.

We all make mistakes.

Vitaliy's an OK dude. He seems to get a bee under his bonnet from time to time but he's had lots of good contributions over on summitpost (though he and The Chief get into the occasional kerfuffle).

hey fatty- this is getting scary

I lived at 3rd and fairfax for a few years, just down the street.

were you the one who tooled my car and put das boot on it. Damn LA parking

After a long night of hooting it up at Moley Malones around 2 or 3 in the morning I would saunter on over to canters and always get the same thing to go.

Smoked chubs and popiseed struedel with a quart of milk.

great area!

edit : you will have to take me to the place near your home when I come and visit. a good perogie is hard to find.

I climbed Ukranian Root Canal at Broken tooth with a Ukranian. We spoke russian, in a halting fashion (on my part anyway).

Wow a personal appreciation thread after being active on the forum for such a short time. Awwwwww shanghai buddy, you shouldn't have! You guys are so nice here. I love you all to death. Can't wait to sleep in your houses when I travel away from Bay Area (although aren't most of you from Bay Area or close by in CA?).

Since you asked, I have been climbing for about 1.5 years now. I love any type of climbing. Especially climbing technical routes on mountains is my favorite. But I love camping, free climbing, mountaineering, snowboarding, want to learn AID and get into big walls (but I need to improve my free climbing first IMO), would boulder if I got a chance. When I am out there I am focused on working hard (or not), and most of all to have fun. Some days could be 21hour marathons and some could be pure fun and joy, both have it's place. Since I am fairly new to it I still get really excited about every climb. Something I enjoy a lot also is to bring some of my friends out to enjoy the outdoors with me. This weekend I am excited to bring out a friend of mine who I played on the football team with. Year ago he started to attend a climbing gym where I go, but he has never climbed outside of gym. We will be going to climb in Tahoe area with my other friend. Hopefully he will like it, and we'r not gonna die.

Wow, only been climbing 1.5 years? Well don't know much about you, but was impressed with your winter trip up Carl Heller, and really appreciated the vodka you left in the summit register can...

May you have many long and fulfilling years of all types of climbing!

Yeah 1.5 years, but almost every weekend. When I say I love it, I mean it : ) What my mother has to say is a lot different though. She doesn't like me being in the mountains so much, and she doesn't appreciate the mountains as much because there are not too many flowers on rock faces etc. So I try to take photos and bring some flowers for her to enjoy...

Winter mountaineering is what I like a lot. Summer mountaineering in Sierra doesn't prepare you too much for Alaska, but trips like Carl Heller do. East Arete of Humphreys was a very cool winter ascent too, I thought. http://www.summitpost.org/winter-ascent-of-the-full-east-ridge-of-mt-humphreys/701674 My friend put a lot of work into this report...
This year we have planned a few big (for us) winter trips too. Hopefully they will end up without much alterations from plans.

Did you guys just use an internet translator or you seriously speak it a bit? If you do speak it, is it because you were spies during cold war, or is it because some of your ancestors are from there, or you took it in school? I am pretty surprised.
