Yesterday was SO perfect here on the east side...a slight breeze and 71F. Today looks like it will be even better. Low this morning is 35F...definitely warming up!

I have to go to So Cal later this week, and I hear it will be 100F down there. Wow, what a contrast!

Indian summer is here....it has my permission to stick around til Thanksgiving.

Good morning Dean ,

The weather here on the Eastside has been stellar and it looks like this will be a fine week.

There seems to be a lot of interest in the weather here and I wanted to encourage you to keep up the reporting from your base.

I think it can turn into something similar to the ELCAP report.

Not so detailed as say Howards weather but your own personal take.

Thanks. Ive enjoyed it.

Gonna have to amend the report a bit....some little system moving through here presently, bringing clouds and cooler temps. Looks like a fast mover, however, so things should be improving by tomorrow.

Pretty spectacular lenticulars hovering over the 3rd Pillar this morning. Shoulda had my camera with me. :(

Another stunner today....75F and absolutely perfect!

Colors are looking REAL nice here in June Lake!

Off to LA tomorrow....delivering the eulogy at a friend's memorial on Saturday. :(

Looks like the weekend will be ok here...a little cooler, but otherwise alright. GET OUT THERE!

Thanks QITNL, I plan on it!

39F here this morning. The weekend should be a bit cooler from what we have been experiencing this week, however, still absolutely stellar!

The colors are REALLY coming in now, so if you get the chance, c'mon up!

Off to the marina for half a day, then down to LA, where I feel much like a fish out of water.

More updates next Monday....right now next week is looking pretty good, with a little chance of showers around Tuesday. Colors should be peaking next week!!!!

The colors have peaked in most places here on the east side, and are on the wane.

Colder conditions have begun moving in, with the true feeling of fall, as opposed to all the Indian summer days that have prevailed as of late.

This morning's low is 22F, and it will likely not make it out of the 50's today.

No weather in the forecast for quite a spell, but the cooler conditions will prevail.

FYI...I will be closing Gull Lake Marina on Sunday, October 30th.

Have you been out scoping ice?

There last year's snow, then there is the snow from earlier this month, and very soon the temps will go cold and stay cold.

I saw some interesting stuff up your way, not at June, but off the loop.

western slope didnt get that color.

i did a quick run up 108 this weekend, and the aspens didnt do much of a show. presumably it was the early wet/heavy snow.

but it's ok, because we had an absolutely spectacular flower/greenery/snow season thru the summer.

sorry to see my many summertime projects go back under the snow, but really sorry to see the veggies go away. cool, wet summer meant that we had a suck ass season for tomatoes and chiles. the walnut folks were sweating it, because that storm hit just about the time we needed to get walnuts in and the fields were too soft for the machines.

Saw on a jog tonight that there is ice in The Cross on Tallac. I didn't have a scope, but it looked like it would be a fun ice/mixed romp for at least two pitches. Anyone want to check it out? Tomorrow morning is probably as good as it will get (this week).
There is still a snow patch above it, that and the snow a week or two ago is what is feeding it I believe.

Tom, no I have not been out scoping any ice. Once I get the marina closed up next week, I'll be quite a bit more freed up.

Not as cold as I thought it would be this morning, thank goodness. Actually looks like a carbon copy of yesterday. Presently 21F with high's today around 50F at best.

Snow moved in here late last night, dropping 3 inches by this morning.

A low of 24F this morning, with partly cloudy skies and flurries. It will likely not got get out of the low 30's today.
