that happened to me last night Ron. Snowing with no radar return. There are lots of variables with radar. Where it is.. how sensitive it is. Its a conspiracy to make you think the sun is shining. Try this one.. use the arrows to move the screen to where you are. Its government though, so it will probably hide the chemtrails. haha

I just watched a documentary called "Arctic Extreme" about Eastern Euros hauling sleds by foot/ski from Russia to Canada right over the North Pole! I'm pretty sure this weather is light conditions ;).

It is cold out there! They don't call this place Fridgeport for nothing, it is -9 degrees F at 10 am this morning, with a forecast high of 12. We need some more storms to blow out this inversion. The low last night was around -15.

Would Baldwin be on the left and White fang on the right? (looking at the pic) Whatever the case, the ridge between them is a death wish.

This morning's low is 13F, with mostly clear skies and a flat calm.
Increasing clouds today with snow likely later this afternoon/evening, and on through the night.

Hey Crag, what's goin' on up there this morning? Is it snowin' yet? Blowin'? Fifteen years living here and I've never climbed Horsetail.Partner and I are tossin' the idea around. But my partner and I are lazy and cheap ;-).Don't really feel like havin' to chain up the front wheel drive(if it goes R2/3)and the four by costs a billion dollars to fuel.Don't get me wrong,we'll do either just don't really want to get up there only to discover 55mph wind. Also, football, pellet stove and beer are enough incentive to keep us home :-).Just wondering what yer seeing.Thanx.

Pretty benign so far.....25F and just a trace of snow overnight. Heavy overcast, with 6 to 12 inches in the forecast.
No chain requirements presently. Trail to Horsetail is broken...c'mon up!

A Nevada low has now parked itself over the east side....pumping some nice, soft snow into the area....still hoping to see it stack up 6 to 12 inches today, and on into the evening.
Presently 25F and light to moderate snow......no wind.

Dean,
I thought the skinny was no skiing at June, something about liability or something. Is the mountain open (in the sense of not being patrolled for trespassing, not in the sense that they condone it) for those of us willing to hike/skin up?
Happy New Year to you and yours!

Is a Nevada low the same as a Tonopah low? I've beem screwed by hard, cold, east winds on the crest when a Tonopah low blew in. Lift your well staked tent sort of fierce winds.

Brian, yes, you may skin up the mountain and ski it...AC is being done for liability purposes. No snowmobile access will be tolerated. Oh, and a VERY Happy New Year to you and the girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nevada low/Tonopah low...yep, same thing. They CAN be brutally windy and/or cold...or they can be like today's event.....REALLY dry, upslope snow that is now coming down at a VERY nice rate!
Presently 3 inches of LIGHT powder on the ground...snowing at about a 2 inch per hour rate.
Current temp is 24F.
