I have way too many hobbies.

I figured the best way to see Alaska was with a boat, and for some reason the thought of building a boat seemed like a good idea. So 30 odd sheets of plywood, 30 gallons of epoxy, yards and yards of fiberglass and a bunch of misc hardware, oh year 3 1/2 years of part time work resulted in my version of a copy of our local boat designer Renn Tolman's widebody skiff, Renn on the right.

And it's a great way to see cool stuff

Then there is cross country and downhill skiing, snowshoeing, and just staying warm in the winter. What better way to keep warm on a ski trip than a little fire to roast some weenies on.

I've been described as a patron of the arts, as all three of children play the violin, and danged those private lessons add up! Between watching their various concerts and season tickets to the opera, I guess that holds true.

I enjoy taking pics of wildlife when I come across it, like on teh way back to work after stopping off at home for lunch.

And what better way to start the new year than a hike in the mountains
to watch the sunset.

Here's something to do that will keep you from climbing. We've had some water dripping from our kitchen sink into the garage downstairs, causing some drywall damage. Turns out there was a defective batch of 2" abs pipe in the early 80's, and wouldn't you know we were lucky enough to have some installed in our house. So being cheap, I figured I'd go at it myself.

Since the sink drain was behind the kitchen cabinets, I ended up kinda destroying them in the process of finding the leak. Well the cabinets were 25 y/o and at end of life, so a leak repair has turned into, replacing all the cabinets, demoing a soffit, replacing the kitchen window w/ a larger one (the original was an oddball custom size, so going with a custom replacement might as well make it larger) oh yeah, and replacing the light ficture with recessed lights. The lights required two itchy cramped trips in the attic to get em installed and wired. Not sure if balancing between trusses to keep from falling through the ceiling has helped my climbing or not.

here is before:

The drywall patch over the repaired pipes.

and the while I was at it drywall work on the demoed soffits.

Almost done, just need to install the counter tops, cut out the sink and re-plumb it.
