Hey folks- Two of those signed pitons have been claimed over the weekend so my offering to this fundraiser is taken care of. Thanks to Piton Ron and rurprider for helping Philo along here...a more than worthy cause and gentleman!

Way to step up Scully! That is a fine painting from the Once and Future Tami and a steal!

Here is a piece of arcane and historical climbing gear up for auction. Proceeds go directly to Philo.
A rare opportunity for the serious collector of old esoteric junk! ;)
It is one of the first (or actually THE first) working prototypes of Bill Forrest's PinBin piton racking systems, made obsolete practically overnight by the clean climbing craze.

Another item has entered the fundraising mix...

A barely used Metolius Half Dome haulbag complete with a swivel!

Bidding starts at $125 firm plus shipping with a substantial portion of the proceeds going to Phil.

Bidding on this item will run for ONE WEEK from the time of posting and ends at high noon Monday August 22.

A great chance to snag a bag and help out!

Good man Steve! We'll let it run for a couple days to see if there are any more connoisseurs of the obscure out there. Golly, now that I think about it my garage is stuffed full of priceless obscurities.

hey Bobert don't go mixing that stylin' free climbing sling with that rusty aid climbing gear. That sling should be auctioned separately, kinda like wheat from the chaff.

If bobert has such a gear sling in medium length, I might be persuaded to bid for it. If in blue, even better.

Are the gear slings new? Are they the kind that are sewn well enough to use as real slings?

Steve said it would be ok to auction the two gear slings separately so I have taken down the previous post and re-posted this.

That is the nicest of the strap patterns that Bill used too, though it's been a while! LOL

I will donate 10% of any order from the shop toward Philo.

This starts today and ends at midnight August 31.

In order to keep things simple, you MUST mention the order is for the Philo Fund (or something similar) in the notes section.

Start at this link and let's raise some cash for this noble need!

Not so fast: "I'll close the auction next Sunday evening around six."

Never know who else might bid.

OK, I'll bid US$25 for Bobert's Forrest Mountaineering Sling, plus will add postage and package. (Surface mail, basic packaging.) By starting modestly, hopefully we can have a bidding war, and keep bumping the thread.

If I win, someone needs to tell me what to send, to who.

Edit: No need to react instantly. Just a nudge when the thread falls to the bottom of the front page. Alternatively, we could go in increments of $1.00, which should generate some action. You meant "$26.00 plus postage", didn't you?

Thanks but I plan on paying postage for both auctions. Darn. I had talked myself into using the gear sling. I may have to start bidding on it myself.
