If you look in that book Yosemite Place Names, you'll see an exhaustive list of proposed names for half dome. My favorite was Mt. Abraham Lincoln!

That will cut down on the hazards of tourist traffic, as fewer people will be willing to spend a long day hiking just to get to the top of some unnamed peak.
Same goes for climbers, of course.

Another sad example of the one dimensional thinking so prevalent in our society today. Rather than focus on what is there - perhaps we should look at what is missing.
Why is this poor thing incomplete? Where did its other half go? Who is responsible for severing a once whole being into a mere half shell of itself?
I have heard rumors that fracking may have played a part. At the least, global warming played some role!
I demand an immediate Twitter march on MSNBC calling on our nations leaders to come together to restore this natural creature to its whole self.
