In the first picture, what you see is the guts of the formation, the darker stuff in the other pictures is the 'shell' that saw weather before this chunk broke off of a house sized formation on the lakeshore
It still amazes me that such formations can occur inside a larger formation.
That, and the fact that when placed the right way, it reminds me of some crazy mountain that I should climb someday.
