Tucker lived and climbed in the Valley for over a decade. I see him quite often in Joshua Tree now a days. Can anyone post any good stories, quotes, fables , or down right lies about Tucker Tech?

I played chess with the infamous Tech a few years ago at the Gordon Ranch. After schooling me with some fancy rook moves he appraised Coiler's coin collection. The next time I saw him he was building the Great Wall of Yosemite West. Tucker is an impressive fellow.

Tucker still climbs with a swami belt with no leg loops......" You only need leg loops if you are hanging on the rope.".......

A few years ago, I was climbing with Tucker and he knocked a rock off and it hit me on the leg. I told im that I just got hit by a rock and that my leg was bleeding;.... his reply?...."Cool!"......

I consider Tucker to be one of my best friends. Good guy. A few weeks ago we were working on a job together and I noticed something very screwed up done by a previous worker and yelled "WHAT THE F#CK IS THIS?". Tucker yells across the house "Zip up your pants and get back to work!".

Classic.

Salmon Rushdie bathes... Tucker doe not......once Tucker's feet looked so grubby, I had to ask..." When is the last time you took a shower?"....this was probably in Mid-February......Tucker thought a moment ... and replied..."
Dec. 31, for the New Year's Eve Party."......THAT is impressive....

In my days of weekends at the Gordon Ranch about 3-4 years ago, I remember hanging out with Tucker and talking with him and Tom Burke. One day I brought my fiance climbing and we went by to say hi. Tucker and Tom predicted that we would break up. Well we did about 1 year later. So I would have to say Tucker is clearbouyant.

And then about 2 years ago, I saw him at his (then and/or now) girlfriend's house a few blocks from Todd's house. He had showered and cut his hair a bit. Man, he looked like a whole different person.

But what I remember most about him is that he is a very kind heart and always has something funny to say.

A couple weeks back when we were climbing, Tucker got out his shoes to start up a new route Todd had scoped. I have seen a lot of really ratted out climbing shoes before, but these....you could see his toes through the rubber on both pairs, and the ball of the feet area was so onion peeled it looked like the face of Half Dome.

Yet he gets on route and floats it like it's nothing. He took a 10c variation up it.

Even if he is, I bet he floats up sh#t a lot of us can't touch.

Watching him climb in what one would call less than stellar shape was an eye opener into the world of "technique".

Tucker's garden is second to none. People pay serious bucks to get landscaping like that. He's got the latest wall finished. What an awsome structure. The great wall of JT Highlands. I can't wait to see what the next project is.

Myself, Walt, and The Deli Lama were sitting at Degnan's eating, drinking, and telling lies. Some Euro sits down at the table next to us and has a plate full of food and what appears to be 1/2 a chicken. The Euro gets up and goes back in to the deli to get something, and Tucker immediately attacks the chicken. He is standing over this guys table and takes a couple bites. Walt tells Tucker that he thinks the dude is coming back. Tucker throws the chicken back down on the plate with enough force to launch all of the side dishes up in to the air. Most of the food lands back on his plate. Tucker sits back down at our table. The Euro comes back, looks at his food, looks around, and then sits down and finishes his meal. Both Tucker and Walt are sitting there with no expressions on their faces, like it was just another day on the beach. I don't know how i contained my laughter, but i did. After the Euro left, Walt told Tucker that he should show a little class. Tucker just gave Walt the silent stare and smirk. What i thought was really funny is the fact that Walt was wearing these short nylon shorts, and the whole time we were sitting there his tackle was hanging out of the front of them. A classic moment with two classy guys.

Outside of the hospital Tucker was born in, he says he's been to the hospital twice.... both times without his permission. The first time, he was bouldering at the beach in San Fran area, when a hold broke and he feel, hit some rocks, and then fell into the ocean;.... when he was pulled out of the water, he was unconcious and I believe he wasn't breathing. He was taken to the hospital and revived. The second time, he was hit by a car in his road bike days;... he had a bad head injury and his teeth went through his lips....he was again taken to the hospital, stitched up and revived. The story of him falling soloing , with his ear almost ripped off, and then he just pressed it back on and it grew back;...I asked him if this was true , and he smiled and said yes.
