I see it on Supertopo now and then.
Mostly when reading threads of early Yosemite climbers.
I learn from these messages.
It seems to me that this crew knew more about the importance of caring for one another than they let on.
I am amazed at the strength, ability and kindness of these folks.
Cheers to the old souls of the Valley and thier Love !

Plenty of love these days on the ST.
I've seen plenty of folks reach out to each other. I've seen relationships grow and blossom. I've seen weddings. I've seen birth announcements. I've seen people come together and mourn the loss of dear friends, casual acquaintences, and the family members friends. I've seen people who have never met give and receive congratulations for new ascents, new jobs, overcoming illness, or a good story. I've seen people re-establish relationships with old friends and meet new ones. I've seen folks give of themselves - time, money, and talents - just because someone was in need. That is love - and there's lots of it around here!
Who here shares their love freely? Too many to name, but I'll toss this one out: Neebee. We've never met, but she sent me a card. She wished my wife a happy birthday. No one on this forum has even met my wife, but when Neebee found out about the day, she jumped at the chance to send her best wishes to a complete stranger.
There is love on the ST. Long may it grow and be shared. To quote one of the other great purveyors of love here: Keep the MAGIC alive!

Alright, I deleted my 'Haters' thread. But this post from Karl summed up my thoughts in a kinder way than I did;
I'm a part of a number of cultures and communities.
Supertopo is the only one where there's so much of people being negative with one another. (and being negative about the negativity isn't the clearest way out of the woods I think)
I think if we could manage to support and accept each other better and more patiently, we'd find it feels good to have a friendly community that have good vibes for everyone within it. We do have a certain amount of that here on supertopo and people have been a great help to each other. It just that we have the equivalent of online road rage here too where people take out their pent up frustrations on each other.
Since it's spring and our cabin fever is ending, maybe we can sort of bend our intent to embrace each other better. (although I don't know If I'd want to embrace even a female Teletubbie)

Bluering- Self-examination was the point of that thread so why not do that instead of ending the conversation by deleting the thread? That was a poor and self-indulgent move on your part, IMO.
These issues really warrant open and frank discussion and that is what was going on. I would like to re-start that conversation and resurrect the thread.
Any objections to doing so out there?

Fattrad has made a day with my father really special. He went out of his way and that folks is HUGE... My Dad's been very sick so making each day count means a whole lot.
Fattrad is the real deal... I am sorry he doesn't share some folks views but heck, really... Is that so horrible? Are we that narrow minded, easily threatened by another's "opinions?"
