I couldn't find an existing thread so I'll start one.
I heard this one at work yesterday on our production floor, and one co-worker swore it was Linda Rhondstat on vocals. But I'll digress, I was groovin' on the melody. Enjoy;

I'll pick up where S. Leeper left off. Unlike some live footage of these guys, this one has the soundtrack synched to the video. If you tune your EDS-1275 to open D, you can see how this one is played. Leave the lower neck pickups on, full volume, so the sympathetic vibrations completely fill the arena.

I find that when I get really pissed off, if I step back and enjoy stuff, savor it, sh#t gets better.
And it usually comes home at the 70's thread.
Some people are different. Literary nerdz, art-fags, or whatever. Me I dig the old music. Sometimes clean, sometimes dirty.
Pretty cool cleansing apparatus.
I have a soft spot for the seventies though...I dunno. Maybe just a generational thing.

For the record, as a mega-Squeeze fan....
'Tempted' is officially an 80's tune (1981, methinks), from 'East Side Story'.
Somebody needs to start an '80's music appreciation' thread. Many say such a thing cannot possibly exist, but I say nay...

You hit the nail on the head, and thats why I was drawn to Pink Floyd even though I was not around in their heyday. Something special that you don't just hear, you feel. One of those rare bands that brought spectactular talents on all instruments together with brilliant songwriting and progressive ideas. A once in a lifetime.
I remember smoking a joint with this old hippie dood in Tofino one night and we were listening to Meddle... he starts trying to explain what the music meant to him... he stops and looks over at me and smiles and says..."You... you get it.."

I have Meddle playing on my 'walkman' (1990's) and I'm going up a hill outside Cremourne, Australia (outside Sydney) on my Dad's bike. Guess what song comes up? 'Fearless', "you say the hill's to steep to climb..."

The Canned Heat Cookbook, 1969 (Greatest Hits)http://www.allmusic.com/album/the-canned-heat-cookbook-their-greatest-hits-mw0000214729
This is a great site for music. Register and start streaming. I just listened to the best Bullfrog Blues I ever heard these guys do. I am was a big fan of boogie music--a baby boomer boogie boy of Camp 4.
Henry Vestine, the guiding light of this group, died in '97. One night "the drummer for Canned Heat" did a gig here at the theater across the street, but can't say for sure if the guy introduced himself as Fito. He shook me by the hand and said "Don't forget to boogie."
The Flames had the memorable night drive to Fresno to see the Heat at Selland Arena in, like, '68, maybe? The crew was Impala-ed ('64), a low-ridin', fog-slidin' cruise to boogie-town.

This is suppodabe "Fiesta" from Classically Speaking, 1998.
Rod Argent, huh? He is still a Zombie. While you're wracking your brain about who he's, he's snacking on your brian with this jazz from 1998. And speaking of the Who, and just to keep this on the seventies straight and narrow, Rod worked with the Who on Who Are You, 1978. The Zommies came to Merced in Fall, 1965, playing to a packed gym. Tagging along were Del Shannon and a girl group wearing tight leather. Vavavoom!
Can't Say, for sure Rory G. is tops! I never heard him, only his name at odd moments, but got a load on Pandora last June. I did not know @ TASTE till now. (Jokes about my taste are gladly and jumbly deleted.)

Back in the early to mid 70's I had 4 best friends from Golden that I went to college in Gunnison (WSC) with. The only one of us that had a car had a 71 Pinto, totally no extras (not even a radio or a glove box). He installed an 8-track in that thing and we had only 3 8-tracks that we listened to on that 200 mile road trip back and forth. They were......

Geez, the older I get, this song gets more relevant;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzWCxZDFCic
the lyrics are timeless words;
Then as it was, then again it will be
An' though the course may change sometimes
Rivers always reach the sea
Blind stars of fortune, each have several rays
On the wings of maybe, down in birds of prey
Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow
But as the eagle leaves the nest, it's got so far to go
Changes fill my time, baby, that's alright with me
In the midst I think of you, and how it used to be
Did you ever really need somebody, And really need 'em bad
Did you ever really want somebody, The best love you ever had
Do you ever remember me, baby, did it feel so good
'Cause it was just the first time, And you knew you would
Through the eyes an' I sparkle, Senses growing keen
Taste your love along the way, See your feathers preen
Kind of makes makes me feel sometimes, Didn't have to grow
We are eagles of one nest, The nest is in our soul
Vixen in my dreams, with great surprise to me
Never thought I'd see your face the way it used to be
Oh darlin', oh darlin'
I'm never gonna leave you. I never gonna leave
Holdin' on, ten years gone
Ten years gone, holdin' on, ten years gone
Best song ever....

What did they put in the water? Senseless war, death for sale and served up as nightly news entertainment, the uphill trudge for civil rights, and a generation of kids that wanted to find their own way. Amazing musicians must have been present throughout history, but 1971 just seems to be off the Richter scale for iconic releases.
If you were stuck on an island with the music published in only one calendar year, what year can beat 1971?
