Sam R those are stunning !
+1, but the others are great too.
I've always enjoyed the Valley in the winter.

Marty, thx. I thought so too. Days where climbing isn't really happening, but if you slow the pace in the Valley and hike or stop around places a bit, something unique will always rear up.

The moonlit nights...
The mornings so bright it's hard to look...
Beauty everywhere, big:
And small:
The cycles of the meadows:
The stiff old oaks stripped down and still standing, surviving another season of snow:
The solitude of Camp 4:
Jewels in the sun:
The advancing river of evening fog:
If you time it right, you even catch a dusting on the way down-valley hills:
Glorious sunsets down at Parkline:

Sometimes you have to set up quickly for the night or you lose your stuff!
And it never gets old to wake up to this:
Tree shadows on the hanging mist:
Route possibilities jump out everywhere:
And when my neck gets tired of looking up, I can rest looking at this:
At some point I should get tired of this but it just keeps going, and I'm sucked into the vortex of reminiscences:
I love this thread.
