edit: Got pics of climbing the cookie in December?
My every visit to the Valley moves me, takes my breath, humbles me..
Sometimes we overlook the really stunning place it is, for, or in persuit of the climbing. So i did a little more looking this winter, 5 visits.
Post your own thoughts, or images of Winter in Yosemite..... this should be good!

Photo taken moments after the helicopter deposited me atop El Cap during the big rescue of October, 1984.
From here I humped a pig-load of gear on my way to join the edge team at the top of North America Wall to pluck off Ed Drummond.

What's up with all the snow? This is California, yano.
I love Yosemite because you can climb here all year round:

It's true. Really nice pics, ya'll.
Now I can head out with a spring in my step. Well, I would anyway, but your fab pics just gave me a boost.

Beautiful photos! I got cold just looking at them and remembering all the weekends Frank and I camped out in Camp 4 in the snow.
The Collivers were the only other people we met there with any regularity.

Marty, thx. I thought so too. Days where climbing isn't really happening, but if you slow the pace in the Valley and hike or stop around places a bit, something unique will always rear up.

The moonlit nights...
The mornings so bright it's hard to look...
Beauty everywhere, big:
And small:
The cycles of the meadows:
The stiff old oaks stripped down and still standing, surviving another season of snow:
The solitude of Camp 4:
Jewels in the sun:
The advancing river of evening fog:
If you time it right, you even catch a dusting on the way down-valley hills:
Glorious sunsets down at Parkline:

Sometimes you have to set up quickly for the night or you lose your stuff!
And it never gets old to wake up to this:
Tree shadows on the hanging mist:
Route possibilities jump out everywhere:
And when my neck gets tired of looking up, I can rest looking at this:
At some point I should get tired of this but it just keeps going, and I'm sucked into the vortex of reminiscences:
I love this thread.
