Hello SuperTopo Forum,

In response to numerous requests, we have made an important change to the Forum.

Effective today, the SuperTopo Forum now implements required membership. This will mean that in order to post or reply to a message, you will need to first sign-in to the forum or join the forum to become a member.

Although registration increases the amount of effort required of people to post, our hope is that registration will also result in an upgrade in quality of posting.

Our goal in the SuperTopo Forum is to provide a friendly and informative resource for climbers of all skill levels and interests. More information is available on the forum introduction page.

If you have any questions or suggestions to further improve the forum, please reply to this post. You can also feel free to send me email at webmaster@supertopo.com, or to Chris at chris@supertopo.com.

Thanks for your on-going help to improve the Forum.

Regards,

RJ Spurrier
SuperTopo Webmaster

P.S. Here's some of the past discussions that influenced our decision to require membership:

Really support your new "screening" policy. There's a lot of great information to be gained from this type of forum but wading through some of the incredibly moronic entries has been trying. Thanks!

Nice job. Now I search for all my moronic posts.

Time will tell what effect this has on the forum.

I applaud the change to the SuperTopo forum. Let's hope this reduces the garbage that used to be posted anonymously.

Nice work, guys. Thanks for keeping it dynamic. And thanks in advance for modifying it further if it doesn't achieve its objective.
