That's all for now. I don't know what pics I have anymore because most of them are just negatives and I can't find my scanner to make them into digital photos. I didn't take pictures every time I went climbing and it has been so long since I went through these I don't know if I ever took any of you. If I find any I'll post them.

Hey - you mentioned Paul Bourne... I am not sure if it is the same Paul Bourne, but I have a feeling it is. He was paragliding today at Soboba outside of Hemet, CA - and he died. He had a frontal collapse, right side deflation, then went into a spiral. Before coming out of it he hit the power lines. The power lines arced, burning his lines, and he free fell 60 or 70 feet into the rocks on the mountainside. He lived for about 25 minutes or so after the fall, but the internal bleeding was too much. The wind was totally cross at Soboba today - and no one else was in the air or even trying. Two other guys were up there near launch with him, and immediately hiked to his side, and then paramedics got there via helicopter - but almost as soon as they arrived, he died. Again, it could be a different Paul Bourne - but I searched his name out with 'stuntman'...

I worked for Paul Borne for a few weeks last year.
Had a great time reminiscing about Josh and the SoCal scene in the 80's.
To call him a character would be the most oblique of euphemisms.
Paul spoke of his love for paragliding, falcons and all things adventurous.
If this story's true, it's a real bummer.

It's very real. My brother flew with him, and just returned from Soboba. Very, very tragic.

These threads really hit hard, one minute you are reliving some great climbing history, then like a sucker punch another soul is taken, way too soon. I saw Paul in JT regularily, I was noob in 86, we were in awe of his climbing. I distinctly remember watching him solo something on the left side of Echo Cove. We could only shake our heads and laugh at whatever the hell we were flailing on at the time. My condolences to Pauls family and friends. Next trip to JT I will make it a point to get on one of his climbs, if I can find one I can do.
