I have a lot of items that are of historical interst that I will be offering for sale. Contact me off Forum if you are interested in any of my ongoing offerings.

COPIES OF ORDEAL BY PITON FOR SALE
I recently asked Steve Roper to send me the last box of his paperback classic, Ordeal By Piton. Published in 2003, OBP is the finest collection of Yosemite climbing accounts and commentary ever assembled in one book and a fabulous read.

Many of the now familiar Glen Denny photos fill these pages and round out the presentation beautifully.

All copies are signed by Steve Roper as shown.

The available copies are selling for $25 + shipping and may show a touch of shelf wear.

As of July 2017 USPS Priority Flat Rate Envelope is $7.00 including $50 insurance. USPS media rate in a padded envelope is $4.82 with no insurance. Insurance for $30.00 is an additional $2.10. Books will be wrapped in bubble wrap before being enclosed for shipping.

A great opportunity to buy an out of print classic!

New addition! As of 3/11/2011 I am the distributor of Bonnie Kamps' DVD documentary of the First Ascent of the Diamond on Longs Peak by Dave Rearick and Bob Kamps in 1960.

British military issue WWII era. The horizontal appears to be hand forged hard steel. The vertical is stamped and finished by hand. I do have several of these available.

I even have some of both still wrapped in waxed paper. Those fastidious Brits!

About half of the copies of OBP have already sold.

After the 2007 gathering in Yosemite in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the NW Face of Half Dome, I had Royal Robbins, Gerry Gallwas and Mike Sherrick sign 23 numbered Lost Arrow nut tools.

This one was sold for $200. to benefit Tarbuster and I have several more of these to sell to benefit the community. I am asking for the same $200. price plus shipping.

The first one that sells will have the proceeds go to help Rich Romano.

The second one will have the proceeds go to help a young Tibetan man who is doing priceless cultural work in recording and thereby saving old traditional Bon music and dance while it still exists to capture.

More on this fundraising effort as these sell in support of worthy causes.

I have only three copies of Ordeal By Piton left as of today.

Three signed pitons have been sold so far, if folks follow through.

Rich Romano has been taken care of and another is heading toward Flanders.

The next goes to my Tibetan friend.

Thanks to everyone supporting these causes including my own work.

I need to raise some money to hold the hall for next years Oakdale Climbers Festival so I have been digging around in the vault and would like to put one of these signed Clay Wadman 1999 edition full width El Capitan wall posters up for sale. It is signed by 19 ElCap FAers and I am asking $500.

If you are a signature collector there are more than just a few notables on the list including Chuck Kroger and Scott Davis.

I do but they are in storage right at the moment so I will try and locate them for you.

I just landed five early Chouinard horizontals and a very early RURP bought in 1960 directly from the trunk of Yvon's car. YC had been living on oatmeal and was very happy to make the sale. He had one box full of pitons and another full of Alcoa carabiners as the story was told to me, selling hardware the old fashioned way.

Is there more than a nostalgic value ?

Do you want, other such a pins?
I have lost touch with the Maven of the Warren !.

Maven,

A maven (also mavin) is a trusted expert in a particular field,
who seeks to pass knowledge on to others.
The word maven meaning "one who understands",
based on an accumulation of knowledge. - From wiki.

Warren
It evolved from the Anglo-Norman concept of free warren,
which had been, essentially, the equivalent of a hunting license for a given woodland.
The word thus became used for a piece of ground preserved for these climbers/ beasts of warren.

It is now applied loosely to any piece of ground, whether preserved or not,
where climbers/rabbits breed (see FOREST LAWS).

The use is further extended to any system of burrows, e.g. prairie dog warren.
By 1649 the term is found applied to inferior, crowded human accommodations,
in the meaning "cluster of densely populated living spaces" (OED).

Contemporarily the leading use seems to be in the stock phrase "warren of cubicles" in the workplace.

This is my 1st attempt, to cryptic by more than half,

I will make smoke signals and thunder dance

to see if I can raise a response,

It might happen.

It might not.
