Most recent years it's often been intermittent short-lived and you pretty much need to be around to jump on it. Lots of it in a cold year.

delivered in EastMoreland Hospital. raised in Sandy during the late six's and early seven's.
place has changed a bit, back on point.
i've seen alot of pictures that show me head high in snow in Sandy and Portland, just doesn't stay that cold around there anymore it seems.

Hooter,

Only been really cold a couple of years since '87 ('89 & '90 I think) and the river has never frozen. In fact, I don't know what the last year the river froze even was.

Lambone,

Yeah that's the same thread and, yep, kind have to be around to catch it...

I was just at Multnomah Falls the day after christmas (not from there, but visiting relatives)... water flowing, a few splotches of ice plastered to the wall.

Weather has been variable... sleet/ice storms week before xmas, raining afterwards.

It has been a prolific past 2 weeks in the Columbia Gorge for water ice climbing; the best conditions we have seen in many years. Unfortunately, activity will potentially grind to a halt in the next couple days with warmer temps and heavy rain arriving this week. If anyone on the Taco Stand has been out there lately, post up some photos.

Ice storm moving through the area tonight. Rains are on their way though.
I drove the 84 from Portland to Boardman four days ago and everything was frozen solid.
Driving conditions are bad to put it mildly.

The locals have been all over it of late - unfortunately the party is about to be over.
